Murphy's is fantastic in every conceivable way. I often go for lunch and the waitstaff, especially behind the bar, is terrific. The specials change daily and the food is terrific. I love the Irish egg rolls and tuna bites. The nachos and burgers are just as good. Shepard's pie is really good and their apple crisp dessert is to die... More

Went there recently for restaurant week. Three courses, two people, $35. Shared the calamari app which was just okay. I had the salmon main course which was very good and my spouse had the chicken Marsala which was also tasty. Sides for both were sautéed mixed vegetables which were really nice and rice which was okay. For dessert we had... More

Murphy’s in VA Beach is the sponsor for our local Camogie and home Gaelic Athletics Tournament, the Coastal Virginia Cup team so when we travel to DC to play Murphy’s Alexandria becomes our “Local whe we aren’t local”. Had an excellent time! They reserved a nice area for us upstairs, the band was great, they played a mix of Irish/Scottish... More

We have only been to Alexandria a few times but we always seem to end up at Murphy's. The beer selection is great and the food is very good. On this visit it was 95 degrees and were miserable so we stopped in to cool off before walking the 6 block back to our hotel. The place was pretty full... More

Can't say enough good about Murphy's! It's a staple every time guests come to town. Food is okay, the live music is decent, the fireplaces in winter are amazing and it just has a close cozy feel.

About what you would expect from an Irish pub. Flowing beer, bar conversation, music with a steady beat, rolling non-stop. The usual fare: bangers & mash, shepherd's pie, beef stew, fish & chips, plus burgers and a bit of this and that. Service was initially spotty, but improved. Meat pie was decent, but should have skipped the gravy which was more... More

We always visit Murphy's when staying in Old Town. The entertainment is always great especially when Pat Carroll is playing. This is a Lively Irish pub with a excellent staff. The food is very good and reasonably priced. A big Thank you to Mgr. Kenny. There are many places to spend an evening in Old Town but if you want... More

Loved this bar. Went twice on my visit to Alexandria and can really only speak for the nightlife portion of it, but that part was so much fun. Young and old singing modern hits and old-time Irish bar songs all together over beers in a warm inviting environment made for a fantastic time. Service was attentive. Bands were good and... More
