I visited both O'Connell's and Murphy's in Old Town this weekend. I ordered the exact same thing....shepherd's pie and a pint of Guinness (pretty standard). Guinness was delicious at both, atmosphere wonderful at both (old fashioned Irish pub), service was good at both. Style of shepherd's pie can vary, and it did. Murphy's was more my style with smashed potatoes,... More

Great service in this place- our waitress was more attentive than I would expect and this place was crowded. She was genuine and friendly. Live music was very Irish- a nice treat. The place was packed and there was a nice noisy chatter in the place (In a good way, if you get what I mean). Fish & chips were... More

There is another Irish place across the way that a famous traveler tells folks to haunt, don't waste your time. That place was dead on a Saturday Night at 8pm. Murphy's was GRAND! Packed full of folks, bar and table alike. There is an upstairs I have yet to explore. The fish and chips: great, a thick chunk of cod,... More

Great service, good Irish and non-Irish food, very reasonably priced. Definitely a pub, with TV in a cool dark interior.

We happened upon Murphy' s on a Wednesday when they offer 40 cent wings(10minimim). They offered three different options the night we were there. We enjoyed all three. Beer was good too. Service was good especially as crowded as it was.

We ended up here while visiting Washington D.C. on the recommendation of the front desk staff at our hotel. Needless to say we weren't disappointed. Even for a Sunday night dinner there was awesome live music (playing traditional Irish music) and the service/food were great! We had the shepherd's pie, fish & chips, crab-cake sandwich, and meatloaf. Everything was full... More

We arrived near the end of the England World Cup match and the place was packed, yet they were able to seat us within 10 minutes. The food was your typical Irish pub fare. I had the corned beef and my wife had the fish and chips. The highlight of the meal was my son's kids mac and cheese though.... More

Great deal for Old Town. Great prices on beer and it was wing night. Had a blast with a group of friens.

Stopped in for a couple of drinks and stayed for hours. Thank goodness for the free trolley! The Guinness is perfect as well as the atmosphere and company. If you like anything about an Irish pub you'll want to be stopping by.

We went in Murphy's for an afternoon drink during Happy Hour. Cute pub with very good service. Didn't try any food but the menu looked good.
