Probably won't return. The atmosphere was good, the server was great, but mixed feelings about the food. My son ordered and enjoyed a crab cake sandwich, I ordered a Ruben sandwich expecting a sandwich with nice crisp grilled rye bead and the traditional filler. Instead it was an open face broiled sandwich with soggy bread. Didn't taste bad, but not... More

Me and a co worker met his Uncle here for dinner on Thursday which is steak night. It was crowded and they had a 2 man band that was good. Can choose several kinds of steak with sauce and sides. Food and beer was good.

Visited late lunchtime during the Commonwealth Games. The place was packed, so we were lucky to find a seat. We were happy to wait for our food, as we sat outside in the courtyard and enjoyed the street performance going on in the square. The food came eventually, and my husband said it was the best burger he'd ever had,... More

I visited both O'Connell's and Murphy's in Old Town this weekend. I ordered the exact same thing....shepherd's pie and a pint of Guinness (pretty standard). Guinness was delicious at both, atmosphere wonderful at both (old fashioned Irish pub), service was good at both. Style of shepherd's pie can vary, and it did. Murphy's was more my style with smashed potatoes,... More

Great service in this place- our waitress was more attentive than I would expect and this place was crowded. She was genuine and friendly. Live music was very Irish- a nice treat. The place was packed and there was a nice noisy chatter in the place (In a good way, if you get what I mean). Fish & chips were... More

There is another Irish place across the way that a famous traveler tells folks to haunt, don't waste your time. That place was dead on a Saturday Night at 8pm. Murphy's was GRAND! Packed full of folks, bar and table alike. There is an upstairs I have yet to explore. The fish and chips: great, a thick chunk of cod,... More

Great service, good Irish and non-Irish food, very reasonably priced. Definitely a pub, with TV in a cool dark interior.

We happened upon Murphy' s on a Wednesday when they offer 40 cent wings(10minimim). They offered three different options the night we were there. We enjoyed all three. Beer was good too. Service was good especially as crowded as it was.

We ended up here while visiting Washington D.C. on the recommendation of the front desk staff at our hotel. Needless to say we weren't disappointed. Even for a Sunday night dinner there was awesome live music (playing traditional Irish music) and the service/food were great! We had the shepherd's pie, fish & chips, crab-cake sandwich, and meatloaf. Everything was full... More
