We stopped in early eve to grab a Irish brew, but decided to order off the menu. A great "real" Irishman pulled up a stool, his guitar and a semi-programmed acoustic musical background selection - and he was off and playing some Irish classics. Food arrived, hot, fast and was good. Guiness Stew with mashed potatoes wasn't too salty, was... More

Asked if the beef was house cooked & it was but when I got the roast beef it was more like boiled meat sliced thin sandwich style.... no flavor. Mashed potatos and gravy good thou & I enjoyed the steamed veggies. Also disappointed in lack of ontap options..... would like to see a larger variety. Probably will never go back... More

Usually when I am here it is with a group and I decide on the Fish & Chips, and these seem to be some of the best for the area. However I do know there are some other good things on the menu as well as the specials.

After a long day of travel and setting up for a national health care convention, the sales representative I was working with and I were in the mood for a casual place to eat. We decided on Murphy's and had a great time. George ordered the Yankee pot roast and he said it was deliciious. I had the Rueben, and... More

My wife and daughter, and three of my daughter's friends, went shopping in the afternoon for my Daughter's wedding dress in Alexandria. I, in turn, went to Murphy's and had a couple of Pints of Guinness while waiting for them. Soon they were done and joined me. We had a great time. I had a dish of wonderfully prepared fish... More

We popped in on Monday for a quick drink (or three) and enjoyed the company, the "nibbles" and the beer. Went back again tonight (Wednesday) for a full dinner and were well satisfied - interesting live performers both nights.

I've been coming here for three decades, and it hasn't changed much! It's friendly, prices are reasonable, the facilities are ever so slightly shabby, there's live music every night with singing along and some unofficial dancing--it's a hometown bar in which tourists are made to feel at home. Murphy's is an Old Town standard that offers a good time for... More

Having limited good Irish restaurants at home, we like to try them on the road. On entry, the place looks like a pretty typical, fun Irish pub. (I notice that there are always some people that refer to pubs as 'dirty' or 'dingy', but just because the lighting is low giving it a somewhat dark interior does not mean it... More
