After hearing so many raves about this place, I just had to try it out. Seems like most of the food is pre-cooked. Ordered wing appetizer and it came out in five minutes. I ordered the combo platter and it soon followed. I understand ribs and brisket need to be precooked but the chicken breast was very dry and the... More

This was an interesting place to eat lunch with good food and paper mache art all over the walls and even a train coming out of the wall. Children would be fascinated with all there is to look at. The presidents are eating at a table altogether from different time periods. When you enter, you are in the bar but... More

This has become a favorite of mine since first being introduced to the place 30 years ago by my lawyer, loved one and friend (his official title). My daughter of 18 has become a fan too and you become a regular, Mac or Conner will start pouring your draught or fixing your drink as soon as you walk through the... More

This is a short one. Fabulous atmosphere....cross between a jukejoint and college pub. I want to marry EVERY SINGLE STAFF MEMBER....and I am convinced they want to MARRY ME. Some pretty wild twists on menu items. I have heard nothing but raves. I had the Pig Salad....a great concoction of fresh greens, sweet corn, peppers, and pulled BBQ. DELICIOUS and... More

As mentioned in other reviews, the colorful and whimsical decor make it a hit with kids - as do the kids menu items. (The little extra "flag toothpick" is a nice touch for kids.) Our party enjoyed the Catfish Po Boy, the BBQ sandwich and the Sesame/Buffalo Chicken Salad. The consistency makes this a "go to" spot when we are... More

Great ribs, very tasty sides (cole slaw is creamy and crisp) and ambiance is funky. Small restaurant, good southern food, good value. We make it a point to go on every visit to DC.

This place is always a hit with the kids given the paper mache scenes on the second and third floors (skip the bar on the first floor). The food has also gotten better over the past year or so (a range of Americana fare).

This is an excellent restaurant for families. The menu had a lot of variety for both the adults and the kids. Even my 4yo cleaned her plate! I would personally recommend the BBQ fried chicken breast - yummmm. The staff was very friendly. We visited on a Saturday night around 8ish and was immediately seated. We were all full and... More

My boyfriend and I ate here while visiting with friends in Alexandria. Overall a delicious experience! The place was very busy as a school field trip was dining at the same as we were but our server was still on top of everything. Refilled our waters without asking and such. The food took a little longer than normal but that... More

Stopped by for lunch last Monday and took advantage of their $6 burger. Very good. You'd spend that much on fast food. We have also tried the ribs. A bit fatty, but good tasting.
