Quite quirky, quite yummy!

I must say, everything at Evening Star Cafe is quirky, from the featured cocktails to the decor, and it all comes together nicely to create an enjoyable...and delicious...experience. It's also a great place to have a special dinner, especially due to the cozy and quiet atmosphere. I also love how... read more

The relatively high quality of the food combined with the incredibly bad service led to the average rating for this restaurant. But the poor service outweighed the meal, and I will not go back. Starting with the food, our family went for brunch. Those who had the quiche raved about it. I had the chicken and waffles with hot butter... More

Dined with family and ordered daily special - salmon on a bed of fresh vegetables. Very tasty. Good selection of wines, nice quiet atmosphere

Have been wanting to try their brunch for some time now and finally got around to it with friends. The Duck Hash was excellent, and Sticky Buns to start off were really good. The bloody mary's with bacon and a piece of grilled cheese sandwich were great. The craft beer selection is superb and prices are reasonable. This was definitely... More

We have never been disappointed with the food at Evening Star. Even with a limited menu, a meal is intriguingly tasty. Interesting appetizers (brie, mussels 7 pimento cheese lead the way) and good salads set the table for good entrees. (The sweet potato rolls are good but the dinner rolls are surprisingly tasteless.)We both chose the pork shoulder set on... More

Party of 4 for dinner on a Saturday night. My DH and I like the Del Ray area for dinner - King St has tons of restaurants but is so busy that Mount Vernon Ave - particularly in the area of Evening Star - seems more like Main St USA and the wait times are not as long. So, the... More

We enjoyed our appetizer (crispy poppadews with pimento cheese), drinks, and found the waitstaff to be helpful and attentive. Dinner selections were well prepared, nicely presented, and delicious. Excellent Caesar salad, tasty grilled oysters, mahi, salmon, and a killer apple cobbler, enough for three!

This place wasn't very impressive. Its one of those places that could be great. Funky feel that has kind of seen better days but still trying. I attended a wedding reception there and I have to tell you the food was not good. They couldn't get it out fast enough and it really wasnt flavorful. The buns they had for... More

I visited Evening Star, with two friends, for dinner. Sad to say, there is a strange vibe that the "ultra-cool" staff is doing you a big favor by working at the place. A few of them were gathered at the hostess desk, just visiting with each other when we arrived on time for our reservations. We were a party of... More

Fool me once, the saying goes, and shame is on you. Fool me twice and, well, you know the rest. Evening Star has fooled us for the last time over the past weekend, and I think is moving in a bad direction. The Star has two types of customers – those that do and don’t live in Del Ray. If... More
