This place wasn't very impressive. Its one of those places that could be great. Funky feel that has kind of seen better days but still trying. I attended a wedding reception there and I have to tell you the food was not good. They couldn't get it out fast enough and it really wasnt flavorful. The buns they had for... More

I visited Evening Star, with two friends, for dinner. Sad to say, there is a strange vibe that the "ultra-cool" staff is doing you a big favor by working at the place. A few of them were gathered at the hostess desk, just visiting with each other when we arrived on time for our reservations. We were a party of... More

Fool me once, the saying goes, and shame is on you. Fool me twice and, well, you know the rest. Evening Star has fooled us for the last time over the past weekend, and I think is moving in a bad direction. The Star has two types of customers – those that do and don’t live in Del Ray. If... More

Evening Star restaurant in Alexandria was A+ all around starting with the sweet potato biscuits served with honey butter. Next we sampled fried green tomatoes and poppadews, a cheese stuffed pepper which one of the most amazing foods I've ever eaten. My entree was grilled salmon served over spicy vegetables and it was so so good! The wine was lovely... More

If you like southern cooking, then this is the place for you. However, the menu is somewhat limited, and I had a hard time finding something that I wanted to eat. If you are vegetarian or vegan, I would not recommend eating here, as there was only one dinner menu item that seemed vegetarian. I ended up ordering an appetizer... More

This is a comfy casual looking neighborhood restaurant with a very promising looking menu. The problem was service was awful (and it was a weeknight and not all that crowded) and the food was mediocre. Alas. Service first. My fault but I ordered a glass of wine I didn't love and wanted to try a different wine. I tried in... More

We use to live in the neighborhood and must have eaten there 30 times over a two year period. We moved away and were so looking forward to eating there again on a return trip to visit old friends and see the city with our children. it's only been two years but everything was different. We asked the waitress who... More

Evening Star Cafe in Delray area is a funky little place with dining area as well as 2 bars. Overall, the place is very small and quite loud. The acoustics are not very good and conversation can be difficult, but the cold beer, good food and excellent service make the effort worth it. The lounge has a nice menu of... More

My dining partner and I went to Evening Star for a delicious dinner. As an appetizer, I had the fried green tomatoes, and she had the Caesar salad. Both appetizers were delicious. For the entree, I had the duck, and she had the pork chop. The plates were well composed, the food was scrumptious, the light smoke flavor of the... More
