We really enjoy the ambiance of this restaurnt. One almost feels as if George Washington just left. The food and the drink are very well done

I'm a big fan of this restaurant, which has ebbed on and off for a while. However, the new chef has turned the food around and I will admit, I enjoy coming more as a local. I'm a history buff and love to have friends join us for a weekend meal. We specifically ask to ensure that Mr. John Douglas... More

Liked the simplicity of the rooms and historical building. Waitstaff courtesy but going at opening on Sunday, found they were disorganized from a group party from prior evening. Food was very good, not fabulous. The peanut soup was extremely good.

We dined with friends recently at Gadsby's Tavern in Old Town, in Alexandria Va. The only reason to select this spot is if you think dining in a historic building is your goal. If you want good food, or good service, or a comfortable chair, go elsewhere. Surely, only out- of-towners choose this restaurant. A pity, when there are so... More

We had my grandmother's 85th birthday party here. Had about 30 people and it was a blast. The costumed staff was very engaging and entertaining. Food was good too. Such a cool piece of history.

I had dinner there with my wife and we enjoyed the historical aspect of the restaurant, and were mildly entertained the the colonial/revolutionary era theme. The food was okay, but not really memorable. I might consider returning with relatives visiting, but solely for historical value

This restaurant must get by on the historical ambience which I must admit was pretty nice. The food was pricey which is not a problem when it is super good. The food was okay. I had crab cakes that were tasteless. You couldn't even taste the flavor of the crab meat and the price was $28.00 for this entree. One... More

Gadsby's Tavern is a very historic place and we were disappointed in the dining room, which was very non-descript - white walls, with a few pictures on it. That's not what we thought of in context of a historic "tavern". Our waitserver had no personality; she went through the motions. The food was good and the owner's visit to our... More

Food was good and friendly, efficient server dressed in Washington era clothes was fun. But the decor and eating a meal where George ate were my favorite parts of the experience.

We truly enjoyed our dining experience at Gadsby's Tavern. Food quality was superb, and the 'historical ambiance' was fun. My kids are older (16yrs. -21 yrs.) but I would think that younger kids would enjoy the experience as well.
