Nice lunch

Went to lunch. I got the crispy fish and my wife the crab cake. Both were good. Very quaint 18th century atmosphere. Definitely worth a look.

Let's start with the hostess, took her more than 5 minutes to greet us even though we were the only ones waiting. When finally at the table we ordered beers.....the beers were unique and very good. But then there is the lunch order. Simple enough; one salad w/chicken, 3 French dips, 1 burger, 1 blt. Simple? Apparently not! French dips... More

This was the most disappointing "fine dining" experiences I've had ever... Staff was courteous enough (hence my 1 stars) however, for $100 for two people, one would assume the server would box-up our meals for us. The prime rib my mom ordered was over done, and was still over-cooked after the correction... When we asked for boxes after finishing, the... More

Eating here is stepping back in time to George Washingtons era. The staff are all dressed in period costumes and the menu has dishes similar to those offered in his time. A real experience. Service and food all very good.

Disappointing. The waiter had zero warmth. George Washington's dish of duck was very tough. The ham biscuits appetizer was good. This was our anniversary and should have gone to Vermillion's!

My daughters, a friend and I had dinner at Gadsby's on Mother's Day. My friend had the Filet Mignon and she loved it--very tender and grilled perfectly. I ordered the Shellfish Newberg, it was delicious. My oldest daughter had Lemon Chicken and the youngest the Salmon--both really liked their dishes. But what I liked best was my dessert--the Banana Bread... More

We had reservations, but arrived 30 minutes early to an empty restaurant, to be told to return in 30 minutes. There was a table just finishing up dessert. We were confused, but complied, and left. When we returned, the restaurant was full and our host was nowhere to be found. We asked a costumed staff member, and he tried to... More

I can only comment on the Tavern's restaurant part of the building. The museum was closed the day we were there. The furnishings fit in with the time period when this was built. The servers are dressed in period costumes, answered questions about the building, and were attentive The food is quite good with homemade applesauce, homemade bread, peanut soup,... More

Have been to this historic restaurant several times and never experienced the noise level that we did on this visit (5/14/15). We were seated in the first room inside the front door as the main dinning room was being used for wedding dinner. With at least two talbles of 10 close by and all other tables in use, you had... I love the food and the history and the colonial attire of the wait staff. The food (most important) is excellent. I had prime rib with whipped potatoes and an excellent array of perfectly cooked vegetables and the best creamed horseradish sauce I may have ever tasted. The Tavern Salad and Sally Lunn bread were magnificent and the gingerbread with... More
