It was once an experience, not this time

We have been here before and it was a very special experience. The staff was dressed up and sang! This night no entertainment, no singing. A good place for dinner with out-of-town guests or family. The 18th-century ambience is nicely developed with its simple décor, tightly packed tables and small bar. It brings to mind the days of George Washington who frequented Gadsby's with his officers and close advisors to map out strategy while in Alexandria. The menu is diverse with good selections for appetizers,... More

We have been to Gadsby's Tavern many times, the food is good and the staff is awesome. Your out of town guests will thoroughly enjoy it. Be prepared to be entertained and get a great meal. Reservations are recommended.

Gadsby's is a must visit to experience great food, colonial if you want, and a superb period atmosphere. It is a great place for groups - the back dining room is perfect for 15-20 to dine privately. And they have group menus, or you can just order off the regular menu. Everyone in our group raved about everything they ordered... More

I like historical sites, and this one has a quaint restaurant to add to the charm. Food was very good, prices were reasonable, and our server was excellent!

We eat at Gatsby's Tavern a few times a year. The food and service are always very good. My daughter claims their burger is the best burger she's ever had. You won't be disappointed.

Great place to gather with friends and enjoy a few hours talking over lovely food. The Crab Cake was excellent! Walked about Old Town Alexandria a bit prior to dining. Great experience.

Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner stop here on a bus trip to Candlelight Christmas at Mount Vernon. The dining room and furnishings are very reminiscent of the taverns in Colonial Williamsburg. While we were eating our dinner an employee dressed in colonial garb shared the history of the building with us. Much has been restored but the front door is the... More

If you eat anywhere in Old Town you have got to come here. This historic tavern is beautiful. Great place for a quiet, intimate dinner for two or a group. As suggested we had made reservations just to be sure not to miss this place as we had heard so much about it. After being seated at a small colonial... More

We haven't been here in a couple of years, but definitely noticed that the quality has slipped. Server was nice enough, but the food was less than average, at above average prices. If the management doesn't do do something soon this tavern that has been open since George Washington was in office, might not make it to the end of... More
