Our favorite restaurant for special occassions. Everyone in our family loves this place and we go for each birthday and a few anniversaries. This includes our young grandson. We have taken several out of town guests here as well and they loved it too. Great French atmosphere and excellent food and service. We have NEVER had a bad experience.

This is a very small and quaint French Restaurant in Old Alexandria. We had great service and great food. I think the bill for four was about $200. They had what i believe was authentic French food. I had Quail. Someone else had Salmon en Croute.

OMG. The dover sole was off the chain. I've read that dover sole was the dish that sparked Julia Child's interest in French cooking. Le Refuge's sole sparked mine. The restaurant's décor felt a little over-bearing, but that fish was divine. Look for it on the chalk board menu outside.

We got here for lunch after 1 pm. This is a great restaurant. It is particularly quiet for lunch after 1 pm and accordingly more intimate conversation is facilitated. The food is always good. There specialty is everything so order with abandon!

Had a really nice lunch today at Le Refuge. Very good soups, sautéed calamari and foie gras. All of our favorite French foods, as well as a really nice bottle of white Bordeaux. The server had been with the restaurant for 18 years and was excellent. Great French decor. The only thing I wish the owners would do is get... More

Nothing trendy here - it's a throwback to traditional French country cooking. An intimate space in Old Town, highly decorated, it's a lovely spot for a quiet dinner. The cooking is pretty old-style: lots of rich sauces, cheese and spices. A duck liver mousse was gently flavored. Bouillabaise had a good assortment of fresh seafood and interesting spicing. Pork tenderloin... More

Popped in here as we heard it was good from one of the folks in Tourist info. It's wonderful little restaurant. Fantastic quality of food & the server was a very nice french lady. Highly recommend going here, we certainly will be going back!

The dining room is small but intimate with an eclectically decorated ambiance. The food was fantastic - and at a reasonable price. I enjoy French cuisine and this is one of the better meals I've had. Highly recommended!

This is our favorite type of restaurant, small, intimate and charming. Le Refuge is all of this but the food and service were average at best. We do not live in the area and were looking forward to eating here while visiting Old Town. Service: We had reservations for 8:00 on Friday in early June, and although there were several... More
