Very accommodating to a large group

This restaurant was very supportive in preparing a room for our group of 10-15 people on a Sunday evening, even going so far as to offer to see if there were special menu items available from the large wedding going on in an upstairs space when three of our party members couldn't get their first... read more

We had dinner here on a Fri night in July while visiting my daughter who lives in Alexandria. There were 8 of us and we were seated very quickly. I believe my daughter had reservations for us. The food was excellent, the building wonderful wood walls, etc. Our wait staff was excellent. My only criticism is that it is fairly... More

The setting is gorgeous. The food was excellent, a nice selection of cocktails. We shared artisanal cheese plate - a beautiful selection of cheeses and jams. And I had a Maryland crab cake - it was great, although I did not like the potatoes accompanying it as much. The service was also excellent and the prices were fair.

Good, upscale American food with a modern twist. The flavors are great and ingredients are fresh, and are well selected (no piling on odd ingredients just because). Loved the curry mussels, and the sides were just a good. Beware the fries - we ordered one for the table, then couldn't resist a second order!

We ate here on a Saturday night. I had hanger steak and another in our party had lamb. Another had a mixed seafood plate. Order the onion rings for an appetizer - they were great. Had a fat elvis sundae for dessert that was good. Only disappointment was they ran out of the evening special - prime rib - at... More

The restaurant has a great ambiance and the courtyard is a wonderful area to have dinner. However I felt the food was just average.

Met a few friends for dinner and drinks. The atmosphere was nice and the old firehouse now restaurant was aged and relaxing. Food was decent, but portions were aimed at feeding a 12 year old on a 6-figure income. To make matters worse they a la carte your sides! Thats expected from known scam steakhouses but here....not expected and not... More

As visitors to Alexandria, we did an extensive search to find a restaurant with a nice atmosphere to celebrate our last days in town. The restaurant sounded very promising. However, we were disappointed from the moment we walked in. The service was bad at all levels. In addition, we had to pay separate bills for the bar and restaurant. The... More

After searching online for a great place to get a really good burger and fries other than fast food we came across this place and I am very happy that we did! The local beef, smoked bacon, cheddar cheese and garlic aioli were put together just right! We usually ask for our burgers well done and sometimes they are overcooked... More

We have patronized this restaurant since its days as Portners, then Bookbinders, and always had great meals. Our latest, however was such a disappointment in an old favorite. Service was friendly but very uneven (salads before drinks, for example), food was hardly seasoned and very poorly presented, especially given the prices. The atmosphere still rocks, with the gorgeous historic bar... More
