Still Chugging Along, Good Italian Place

Bit off a beaten path on North Old Town, was delighted to see it was still chugging along. Have been coming here ever since they opened and though their wine store next door had closed, they still have good selection of good Italian wines. Since it is away from main Old Town, parking is easier... read more

I came here because it was highly rated on trip advisor and was close to my hotel. I wasn't over impressed. The food (I had rock fish) was nice, reasonably fresh and well cooked. I also had cheese which was delivered with no explanation. And the wine choices weren't anything exciting. Service throughout seemed quite rushed. Average but not worth... More

Had a wonderful dinner here on Easter Sunday. The service was exceptional and the food was very fine. A very nice Italian meal in a very nice atmosphere. Parking on the street was readily available.

I travel to Alexandria twice a year. My first night here I skip King Street and head to a la Lucia. Off the beaten path (on side street in the 800 block between Fairfax and Royal) this gem is worth the trip. The menu changes between visits but is always inventive and never disappoints. The breads are fantastic and the... More

I was staying nearby at the Crowne Plaza and walked down to eat a nice dinner alone. I was seated in a smallish back room with antique plates mounted all over the walls. I had a drink waiter and a food waiter. I ordered the $30 prix-fixe menu. The fried calamari was magnificent! Thick, meaty cuts of calamari and the... More

First, the Good: The food was very good. Flavorful, nicely prepared, and served hot. The chocolate mousse dessert was, however, pre-prepared,dry and somewhat grainy. Wife had the salomon which was innovativley prepared with diced tomatos and pine nuts. I had the veal paremesan, rated 8/10 in my opinion. The foccacia bread is by far the best I have ever tasted,... This was my fourth visit to this restaurant. Three of them have been for Easter. They have a nice menu that includes a 3 course dinner for $30 or $35. It includes an appetizer, main course, and dessert. I ordered the endive salad for an appetizer and was disappointed. The endive was yellow, which I was not familiar with. It... More

Home made bread that rocks! Great pasta with meat sauce and the special of mixed seafood with pasta was awesome. Our waiter was real friendly and there when we needed him.
