A perfect meal from start to finish. Arrived with a group of six and was promptly seated. We decided to order from the four course Gourmand Menu. I chose the Terrine of foie-gras maison, followed by the Asparagus caesar salad, the Pan-roasted local Sea scallops and finally the Creme Brûlée. The flavors in all of my dishes were well balanced.... More

We don't often venture into Alexandria to eat. We joined friends who have been coming to Bastille for years. With no preconceived opinions, we were absolutely pleased with the entire experience. The sommelier picked two great bottles for us and dinner was excellent. And I am not a dessert guy but was convinced to try a couple with the table.... More

We've dined here a few time and picked it for our anniversary dinner. Excellent service! We did the fix price menu. The portions were perfect for the large meal. We selected a higher end wine and it was served correctly - proper temp and decanted. Management clearly cares about diners having a great experience at their restaurant. I highly recommend...but... A very good place for dinner with intimate surroundings. Very interesting menu from appetizers through salads and entrees onto desserts. A special touch throughout with a nice blend of sauces to bring out some interesting tastes. Try the asparagus salad to start and then move onto the mussels in white sauce. Save room for a nice array of desserts. There... More

Location is in an old industrial area that is now being filled with new condos. We sat outside and the evening was very pleasant. Planes approaching DCA from the South do go right over the restaurant, so be aware of that if you choose to eat outside. The three course meal choices were varied, and my group was pleased with... This restaurant has been around a while. Nice location in Alexandria close to the river and a good place next door to find interesting furniture ,etc., Abaca. However, you go to these places for the food. My wife's hanger steak was suppose to be some pink, but it came rare. So they did not listen! My hanger steak was also... More

First time at this restaurant. Good reputation. We sat outside. Setting is a bit unusual. Rather industrial. The restaurant shares its space with an import company. The food was good, but not memorable. The service was very disappointing. Our waiter was flat. Very uninterested in engaging us. Seemed like he was bored with his job. The gut who filled our... More

I came here with my girlfriend for an anniversary dinner and decided on this place as, well… I'd heard more good than bad about it. Also, I'd been wanting to explore more restaurants around Virginia, rather than just staying in DC all the time. The restaurant proves that you needn't go to DC for decent food. The walk from the... We were here this past weekend for pre-Mother's Day Mother's Day celebration. The reservation was easy to make but you do need to provide a card, and I suspect, you would be charged something for no-show. Some of the members of our party showed late, and I liked that the restaurant did not show the rest of the members out... More

The romance and coziness of this place is so present, you can almost eat it off the plate. Luckily they also have some more substantial fare. My dear boyfriend took me here for our anniversary and we -- DCers who rarely frequent Alexandria -- walked the quiet path from the metro to the restaurant, about a 20-minute walk. Breaking French...
