We went to The Tavern for my wife's birthday and experienced one of the finest meals we've had. The Tavern is located in the oldest building in Abingdon, and the rustic atmosphere adds to the experience. My wife declared her rack of lamb as one of the best things she had ever tasted, and my kassler rippchen was also excellent.

Never had a bad meal here. As with most of Abingdon, the building is full of history, it's over 250 years old. Varied menu, but most everything is rich and filling. Owner run, he's on site about every evening. The fillet medallions are delicious. Great drinks. Servers are always top notch.

Recommended for dinner by the motel clerk as being a great place to eat. An old building dating to the 1770's, it is very quaint; creaking stairs and floors, low ceilings, an overall great atmosphere which in retrospect I think must have contributed significantly to the price of their meals. There were not many diners during our visit so the... More

The atmosphere is very quaint our server was highly attentive. My husband ordered the Surf and Turf and would have preferred more surf than turf overall the food was delicious.

Dining in the oldest building in Abingdon was a wonderful experience. The several small dining areas allowed for a more intimate setting. The owner, Max, is German, and the German items were recommend. Wow, we cannot say enough about the quality of all of the food we ordered. My husband is German and a real "critic" and he was impressed.... More

Food was great. Device was not so great. We ate outside. It started to rain so were moved inside. My son ordered their potato and was told they were out. Then was brought old baked potato. Our waitress did not check on us. My dinner was great. Great menu. Waited a long time to visit so was disappointed with service.

Spent the weekend in Abingdon, staying at the Copper Lantern Inn and the innkeeper made reservations for us at the Tavern. It was very good! The atmosphere was very nice, they have many smaller rooms to dine in making for a more intimate dining experience. The food was delicious. Although for the price of the food, they could have nicer... More

Great food, atmosphere, and staff! Worth the price. Crem Brule was decadent!,I really hope to go back there someday. I want to try some of the authentic German dishes.
