Irish Pub Fill

My wife and I stopped in for a couple a drinks at the bar. This was my first time at the Tavern. It has a Irish Pub like fill to it that we enjoyed. But the atmosphere was just average. The drinks were good and strong but a little pricey.

The food is great, but the ambiance is even better. The manager host, Max, will take good care of you.

We ate dinner on Valentine's Day at The Tavern. The service was attentive and quick. I had the filet medallions (a safe choice, but good) and my husband had the stuff chicken (sauce was fabulous). In spite of the crowd, one of the hosts was able to take us and the other couple we were dining with to the third... More

We always spend Valentine's Day in historic Abingdon. This was actually the first time we were fortunate enough to get reservations here. The scallops, salad and drinks were excellent! The owner Max was very accommodating and friendly. I would hilghly recommend for special occasions!

Three friends and I had dinner here and it was as expected--yummy!!!! I love this place. I have been coming here since I was a child. I've never had a bad meal. The stuffed filet is amazing. That night I had surf and turf which consisted of filet medallions and yellow snapper (I think...yellow something). Both were melt in your... More

We were introduced to The Tavern by some friends for a wonderful evening out to catch up. I love historic buildings and always love it when they can be repurposed for a modern use while still being true to the authentic nature and feel of the place. This restaurant definitely succeeds in that respect. The food is modern and delicious,... More

Each time I've been here I've been impressed. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is unique. The building is over 200 years old and holds so much history. They even took us on a tour of the attic where the original hospital bed numbers are still visible on the horse hair plastered walls. They are usually very busy so... More

The historic setting and the atmosphere at The Tavern are unbeatable. It is charming, romantic, and steeped in history. The food is expensive, but the quality is good. I had the duck in the port wine sauce and it was fabulous. My husband got the weiner schnitzel. Overall, the food was delicious, but not 5 star, especially for the price.... More

We came here for early dinner. The locals suggested calling for reservations, particularly because it was Friday. We came a bit early, but they were accommodating. We sat at an upstairs dining room. The floors were of the period: old and uneven. Service was prompt and very good. Food was excellent. We shared the stuffed filet, which was plenty for... More

We actually ate dinner here twice in four days. It was built in the 1700's and is very colonial. Food and service is outstanding. My husband got the same meal twice because he like it so much. The owner talked with us both times. Service good for large groups.
