Great Atmosphere with a FUN Innkeeper!

We made reservations, originally were seated upstairs on the balcony overlooking the back courtyard but asked to be moved inside due to cigar smokers outside. The property is very old, built in the late 1700s, so the floors are uneven. It's a casual style as far as decor. The highlight for me was definitely the food - the bread is... More

This is such an awesome place to eat and visit. Food is excellent and the history surrounding the building is worth a visit as well. Max, the owner, will come around with his thick German accent and ask how you're doing! So worth it!

Made a last minute reservation for a Saturday night dinner and they were able to get us a table for 2. The service was fantastic. We received our salads with a homemade orange balsamic vinaigrette and some homemade bread that was fantastic. We ordered prime rib, which was tasty but very thin and the wienerschnitzel which was really good.

We were pressed for time when we arrived for dinner, which was a little nerve-wracking, given we were told to expect to be here for at least two hours. However, we made it out in about an hour. The crawfish etouffee I had was just spicy enough and delicious. My wife had the jagerschitzel. Strangely, the dish did not come... More

Great atmosphere in this historic building. Had a great salmon entree that we split. Awesome desert as well - peanut butter pie. Our innkeeper got us a reservation for the "letter" table, and this makes for interesting reading while you wait for your food. Folks who have eaten there over the past years have left notes to their loved one.

Despite being in a hurry the food was good and the service excellent. The staff really worked with us because we visted too long with the ladies at the inn

Everybody goes to the Tavern. Better get your reservation in, we did. The place was hoppin' and the folks were having a good time. Deceiving from the street, The Tavern holds a lot of people and there is a terrace out in the backyard with a second floor porch overlooking the whole thing. Its the oldest building in town and... We were in Abington for a get away. We made reservations at the Tavern for dinner on a Saturday night. You definitely DO need to make reservations at this great place. We were lucky enough to get a table on the upstairs porch. We had escargot as an appetizer, which was tender and well seasoned. I ordered the blackened prime... More

The food was excellent and the service good but the most memorable part of the evening was being seated at a table that had a drawer containing love letters from past guests and being able to write one to my husband and leaving it for future customers.
