Myself & son had the Duck, my mother in law had the crab cakes and wife had filet w/ blue cheese. All the meals were great. The Duck was cook as ordered and the salad was ok but the orange vinaigrette dressing was awesome! Mother in law said the crab cakes were the best she had eaten in a long... More

All I can say is the stuffed filet was one of the best meals I have ever had. Our waiter (Dewayne) was charming and treated us like we were family. And I got a free dessert for my birthday. Love this place and would definitely recommend it.

My sister and I met in Abingdon for the weekend to celebrate her birthday. We stayed at The Martha, so I made reservations here for a special birthday dinner. It was beyond my expectations - and my expectations are always pretty high! We sat at a two-top table which had a "secret" drawer filled with notes from past diners. It... More

The Tavern has the most incredible setting I've seen in a while. Original hardwoods on the walls, fire places lit in the dining rooms, and very rich in history. Make reservations as this place fills up quick. Staff was friendly and attentive. Rooms are dark with no overhead lighting, just a few wall lamps & fire places. We loved it... More

Abingdon is a beautiful historic town and The Tavern is right in the middle of the historic part of downtown. I was in love with this place the minute I walked in the door and pleasantly surprised at the overall dining experience. You feel like your are stepping back in time as the building is original colonial architecture and the... More

We ate here for a business meeting. We sat outside on the upstairs back porch area. The food and drinks were delicious. The history behind the place is fascinating as well.

Spend a weekend in Abingdon for my husband's birthday. We have been meaning to try the Tavern since we moved to Kingsport in 2011, but never got around to it. We were spending the night at the Martha Washington Inn sans kids, so I thought it would be a good night to try it out. I called 3 weeks early... More

Our last two visits to The Tavern have been disappointing--for different reasons. First, this summer: when I made our reservations, I requested to eat inside for obvious reasons. We were seated outside with the heat and flies. This week, we went back to celebrate family birthdays. The cost for five meals and two appetizers was over $255, no including the... More
