Let it "Rain"

Having a night out with my wife, when we decided to try Rain Restaurant in Abingdon. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits and my wife had the Stuffed Chicken Breast. Both entrees were delicious. We look forward to returning to the restaurant in warmer weather to sit on the patio and have a few drinks.

We enjoyed a meal here on Valentine's Day. I had the scallops and they were delicious! The calamari appetizer was also very good. We would go back next time in town.

The food is not at all worth the prices. They are trying to be way classier than what they are. You're in South West Virginia, not Charleston, South Carolina.

Our prices are exactly at or below the average when compared side by side with other area restaurants excluding corporate franchises. Also maybe its just our Southwest Virginia good ol' boy ignorance but we were not aware that in order to try and serve quality food to our guests you had to be from the Big City. Thank you for... Slow sevice and food is unpalatable. Pasta salad was limp pasta with nothing but mayo. Obviously no chef on board

Goodness gracious, our pasta salad is decidedly simple (like most pasta salads are) as it is just a side dish to accompany a variety of lunch items. It has always been made the same with a homemade pasta salad dressing made up of mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar and seasonings along with small diced chunks of red onion and cucumber. Most of... More

The food is excellent, though pricey by Abingdon standards, but the big bar is the most social place in Abingdon. My wife and I usually choose to eat at the bar.

The food, drinks, and service was phenomenal!! Can't wait to go back. Some of the things we had: stuffed mushrooms, salad with homemade basil and arugula dressing, sea scallops, and the chocolate lava cake with homemade walnut caramel sauce. I also had the sweetheart cocktail drink special for Valentine's Day. Fabulous!

I live in Abingdon and my wife and I have eaten at Rain repeatedly, sometimes with friends. Obviously, we like it well enough to go back. The food is never substandard, and sometimes it is really, really good. As other reviews have noted, however, Rain can be noisy and thus not very relaxing. There are lots of hard surfaces for... I would have rated this restaurant excellent but it was the atmosphere that I felt was lacking. The food however was amazing and I would definitely go again. Everything was really good. We ordered the crab meat dip and I don't usually like crab meat but this was really good. I had the butternut squash soup which was one of... More

Great atmosphere, perfect service and excellent food. This place should be rated #1 restaurant and bar in Abingdon, no other comes close! Stuffed mushroom appetizer was prepared to perfection as was the stuffed chicken breast and scallops. We chose the pumpkin cheesecake for dessert, flawless! Do yourself a favor and go, you won't be disappointed. generous with their wine too.
