Nice little diner within walking distance of the Martha Washington Inn. Enjoyed a quick soup and sandwich lunch. The vegetable soup was lacking a little in vegetables but good flavor. In this nostalgic setting, I had to have a root beer float...delicious! It's fun seeing all the apothecary... read more

What a great place! Lots of historical memorabilia and the food is wonderful. Plus, they have an old fashioned soda fountain. Everything was great, and the service was very friendly. Don't miss this if you are passing through!

While on a day trip from Boone exploring Abingdon, I came across this little soda shop. I was welcomed with a friendly greeting and ushered to one of the cute tables adorned with pictures from the town's past. The decor is charming and filled with history. They have a large selection of menu items from standard fountain foods to vegetarian... More

Located in town near the Barter Theatre this is an old drug store with many of the original cabinets, pictures, counter, and good food. Sandwiches, soups (don't get the tomato soup) ice cream and setting is very good.

Reasonable prices for good simple food. Nice atmosphere, very informal, big on burgers and sandwiches... and ice cream desserts!

This place was crowded! I went for lunch and had to wait around 20 minutes to be seated. I thought the menu would be spectacular since it was so popular but maybe my expectations were too high as the food was good but not deserving the long wait. The atmosphere is nice and it's interesting to see all the artifacts... More

The menu has some old fashioned choices, like the hand crafted sodas, which are delicious. Overall though, the food is average. There is not a lot of seating and it can be crowded on the weekends. We really enjoyed it the first few times we went and then they took some things off the menu that we really liked. The... More

I honestly cannot understand what all the rage is about this place. We showed up for lunch and the place was packed (must be really good then). Sat down, service was decent - very casual. I ordered a Reuben - it was good. Nothing spectacular, just good. Others with me had burgers and hot dogs. It amazes me - why... More

I thought it was absolutely awesome! Nuff said! First time I'd beent here. My mother, sister, and I decide to stop in after attending a play at the Barter Theatre. We were very impressed. Cannot wait to go back. I am not a sandwich eater, but this is honestly the best sandwich I had ever had. Doubt I could ever... More
