Quack's baked goods are among the better ones in town, with very reasonable pricing, high seasonal variability in products, really cute cookies, and good pies. Service is slow and coffee-focused, there's always a line, and not all staff are created equally.

I am a stickler, a connoiseur, and a snob for chocolate cream pie. First of all, my mom's is the best, and mine is second best. Everyone else is a pretender. Quack's is serious chocolate cream pie. While the filling is different than mine or mom's, it is smooth, rich, creamy, and deliciously chocolate. The crust is strong enough to... More

For a quick (well, you might have to wait a bit to get your) treat, Quack's is great. Their baked goods are lovely. The hostess-imposter of a cupcake is totally delicious and takes a overly sweet, unrefined model and turns it into a rather lovely flavorful experience. Definitely worth a stop if you're in hyde park!

Great bakery goods, nice staff, lots of tables outside (and inside) to linger over a cup of tea or coffee. Always packed with locals, many with their dogs at the outside tables on a sunny day. I picked up a number of things to take back to Dallas with me- my husband loved the gigantic cookies and I liked the... More

Loved the banana bread. Everything else I've tried is great too I always had iced coffee though, and usually a banana bread with it. Towards the end of my stay in Austin I just started buying a whole loaf of banana bread. Also the location is nice. And cool artwork on the wall. It's one of my favourites in Austin.

Had coffee here a couple of times while visiting my son. Staff is efficient and friendly and unflappable in the face of lines. The Vietnamese iced coffee is very good. The brewed coffee is good as well (not outstanding but solid). The only thing I had to eat was a Texas pecan bar (really, the only thing I want in... More

Bakery has a great location, and great snack selection, but nothing spectacular stood out. I had a macaroon and a nutella shortbread. They were very average. The macaroon was so cold that I had to eat it after a few hours. It was too hard. The nutella cookie tasted good.

Quacks has been around awhile and has a loyal neighborhood following who love the relaxed atmosphere and the bakery goods. We stopped by several times on this trip to Austin. We were drawn by the atmosphere and the smell of fresh baked goods. We ordered the scones several times, plain and with raisans. Each time, there was a nice sweet... More

We just happened on to this place while in the neighborhood and were in the mood for something sweet. It was in the early afternoon so selection was limited. Their cookies are gigantic and tasty. I got a czech tea cookie that was delicious. Building is run down and small. Staff were helpful, but not very friendly.
