A real surprise as the restaurant looked like a bit of a dive on the outside. Staff were great, I loved the food and it was great value for money! Highly recommended!

Really love the food. Everything I've ever eaten has been delicious. Sadly, sometimes it takes awhile to get the food on the table which totally surprises me since (I think) everything has been stewing for quite awhile and it's just a matter of plopping a portion on a big platter. Even though the location is loud and sad, and the... More

We had a lunch buffet at Aster's Ethiopian and enjoyed the Buffet. The food is flavored with spices similar to Indian food so we enjoyed it. It was also a good value for the price. The place looks quite unimpressive but it is clean and the food is good.

The lunch buffet was perfect for a small group of 4 for a business lunch. It was a great introduction into the countries cuisine. The service was friendly. Will try dinner soon.

If you think you have a liking for Ethiopian cuisines you need to visit. No, it won't be for the surroundings or anything shmancy. It will be for simplicity, good spicy food, grab a plate and go, and the owner wait staff are the sweetest, nicest folks. They alone are worth the visit. Try it...you'll love it!

Went to buffet lunch at about 1:15...towards the end of the service. I am not sure if this had any effect of food quality. Stayed vegetarian for this trip. What hit me at first was that all the food was a type of "stew." Food that would keep in chafing dishes. There were very few textures. The eggplant was very... More

I LOVE the food here ... Consistently good and if you are a vegetarian, then you have a wide array of choices. For me, atmosphere isn't everything but others may be intimidated by the appearance of the restaurant ( which is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars). The service and staff are great and I am so happy... More

Since moving away from Austin, which is home of Aster's Ethiopian Restaurant, I have tried to locate an Ethiopian restaurant that is even in the same galaxy flavor-wise as Aster's and have failed miserably -- much so that I will frequent Aster's two days in a row when I find myself back in Austin. Aster's is a funky little dive... More

This restaurant believe in having small menu, but very well prepared dishes. As on enters the restaurant, one's appetite immediately kicks I by the very earthy smell of spices and slow cooked food. We order the dish which had Ethiopian bread covered with chicken gravy and well cooked chicken. One could differentiate each of the spice and savour the taste... More
