We tried Lamberts after it was recommended to us by a barman at the hotel. We did have to wait a while as we hadn't booked but the bar upstairs was a nice place to site and wait. Service was good and the range of food was impressive. All good points really, nothing to report from a negative point of... More

My wife joined me in Austin for the Fourth of July weekend while I was on a long term assignment there. She wanted to go to Lamberts since I am not that big of a barbecue fan but loved the restaurant. Neither of us were disappointed. Great draft beer, excellent apps (wild boar riblets and devilled eggs), and great brisket... More

We went to Lamberts for our fill of BBQ and really enjoyed it. The cocktails were good (good thing, because we had to wait about 45 minutes for a table!) When we sat down, we just asked our waiter to order for us, and he didn't disappoint. We had brisket, chicken and ribs and 4 excellent sides. The portions are... More

We liked the look of the place (a plaque at the front door told the building's history) and our accommodating waiter. Cornbread muffins to start and pulled pork, brisket and ribs to share were great choices.

This lived up to its billing. Super sauce, great spirited atmosphere. Big portions and smiling service. Will come back.

Franklins is where everyone wants to go in Austin; for those who don't want to wait in line for hours, the de facto recommendation is Lamberts. While Lamberts is pretty nice...you should turn around and go back to Franklins. Lamberts is a nice, upscale restaurant with fine service and nice decor. The food they serve is pretty tasty - if... Lamberts is one of those upscale places where you get for more money smaller portions of average food on a square shaped plate. It wasn't bad, it just not the place for BBQ. There are at least a dozen place within a mile radius having better BBQ.

Not bad, not great. Brisket was dry and service was ok. Waitress appeared to be constantly distracted and uninterested in actually taking our order. Decent selection of beer. Wouldn't return, there are better places around.

We heard about Lamberts Downtown Barbecue on the Keep Austin Weird episode of Bizarre Foods America, and knew we had to go there for our one night in Austin. And, man, we weren't disappointed. He had the Natural Black Angus Brisket and I had the Natural Black Angus Filet, with the Carrot & Cilantro Slaw and the Fried Okra with... More
