Something different for a movie

I really enjoyed the concept of Alamo Drafthouse. Although The Ritz is a bit older, and needs some updating, the service and comfort was awesome. Our server was really friendly. We ordered the loaded fries which were not very good, kind of cold and the melted cheese was kind of hard and the whole... read more

I'd read about the Alamo theaters and couldn't wait to visit them during SXSW 2015. The Ritz is located on 6th street and super cozy. Staff was attentive and friendly. Seats are large and comfortable and the film was bright and sounded great. Going to an Alamo theater is a quintessential Austin experience not to miss.

This is a smaller, older theater, but boy is it loaded with character! The screen I saw was not huge but it was still a joy to see a movie here. Seats are large, comfortable, and reserved when you buy your ticket. The projected film was sharp and bright, and the sound well-balanced. Wait staff circulate to take food and... More

We went to see The Interview at the Alamo Draft House Ritz Theater on 6th Street. I got the balcony seating for two. There are only a couple of big leather recliners up there and it was a super cool experience. The seating included parking so it made the whole thing a no brainer. We had some excellent snacks and... Theatre seating with food service. And they make everybody shut up during the show. Pre-show cartoons fit the movie.

This was my first time to the Austin area. My son is a movie buff and loves visiting unique theaters. We decided to pay the upgraded price to get balcony seats. What a great set up! You have nice reclining seats with cup holders and a server dedicated to taking care of your food orders. The only thing I would... More

It was a great show with funny comedians and if you haven't done master pancake it should be on your to-do's. It is technically comedians syncing to the movie and it is funnnny! I also had a meatlovers pizza and some red wine so it made it a leisurely Saturday evening!

When my husband & I visited Austin for the first time, we ended up at the Alamo Drafthouse twice. It was such a fun experience! One night we saw a popular, blockbuster comedy and the other night we watched a low-budget, Troma-style film. One of the night's we had the full experience by ordering dinner and drinks while we watched... More

Not only was this a great place to watch a movie, but they had great food too. The seats were comfortable and large. There is no talking or texting during the movie so that makes for a neat experience too. There were no advertisements before the movie which was also great...some old random clips, a few trailers and the movie... More

The food isn't five stars, but the experience makes up for it. Before the movie, you are entertained with some great clips and movie montages. The staff was great and the prices are affordable. Definitely worth checking out.
