One of the problems with growing up in Texas is that we become so accustomed to eating Tex Mex. If a restaurant attempts any variation to what we are used to, we generally slam them for not knowing how to properly prepare quality Tex Mex. In this restaurant's defense, I don't think they are attempting to serve Tex Mex. I... More

Under new management, Manuel's now has poor service and they've jacked up their prices while food quality has declined. There are dozens of better Mexican food restaurants in Austin. Don't waste your time with this one.

Manuel's had been one of our favorite restaurants, but we noted a considerable deterioration in quality on this visit. It has always been noisy, and with a recent change in the seating arrangement (more chairs, with the built in upholstered booths removed), the noise level was much louder. Most of the noise was coming from the kitchen. One of our... More

My friend and I were seated right away at a very busy dinner hour(8pm). Service was good. However the white sangria was not very good, and sent it back. The margarita was a better choice. Ordered chicken fajita nachos but they were a bit dry:-( The outdoor patio was very serene at sunset .

We ate on the patio outside, it was a beautiful setting! The service was excellent, the food was excellent, and the "famous" margarita was pretty good too! I recommend this place - the price was also very reasonable!

I enjoyed brunch on the patio today early before the crowds. I had migas which at $10 seemed a little pricey but when they brought my dish, full of black beans in a totilla bowl, along with plate of sliced bananas, pineapple, cantaloupe and wstermelon I was pleased with the amount. The flavor was great and the bloody mary as... More

I have lived in The Austin,Texas area for 21 years. I first was exposed to Manuel's restaurant in the downtown area. I always ordered the beef entree, Lomo de Res. It was a beef tenderloin filet with a special goat cheese sauce over a bed of rice with black beans. It has always been excellent. Last night my wife and... More

... Manuel's is about the very, very best!!! Every dish at our table was good - yes, we all shared. In fact, my love for mole was seriously challenged by their cream sauce. Try it, you'll like it!

Yes, the food is excellent, but I think it's a little pricy. If you lunch with wine and a flan you easily reach the US$30.00... plus taxes and the tip (they suggest a 20% tip).

My non vegetarian friends like this place but it does not even have beans for vegetarians. Once I had to sit there just with drinks and ice cream as it was an official meeting.
