The best? Not to us.

First of all we're not Austin natives and we may not know authentic BBQ if it smacked us in the face, but we just weren't as impressed with Ruby's as the other reviewers. Sure, the place had the vintage hole-in-the-wall feel, but we found the food okay, not anything to write home about. Of course... read more

Great food. Excellent customer service. They make sure you are completely satisfied or they make it right. Highly recommended.

Very good overall. Is crazy how good BBQ can be when you are not waiting 3-4hrs to get in. Fall of the bone ribs and very good brisket. Banana bread pudding is to die for. Solid value, the place is an old wood house that adds character to your dining experience. Personal treatment by owner was cherry on top. Might... More

Passed by this joint on biz trip and it looked pretty authentic so I circled back at dinner time on a Sunday. Quaint and cozy typical BBQ dining area. Very friendly cashier and staff. Got the brisket plate with sides of okra with tomatoes and collard greens. Nice portion of brisket, tender and very little fat. Love the flavor- doesn't... More

You cannot get this at a chain. The slow cooked brisket is old-fashioned Texas DELICIOUS! NOTHING fancy here. You order at the counter and they deliver. Very near campus so you have a student-like atmosphere. Very fun visit!

I've been coming here for many years and it never disappoints. The brisket is hormone free and grass fed and you can taste it. My go to are Black Bean and Chicken Tacos. These are my favorite soft tacos in the world. The BBQ sauce is beyond good. It's the right combination of flavor and spiciness. Try it once and... More

This was my second official trip to Ruby's, but I "eat" there often because I order their sauce online. I absolutely cannot recommend it highly enough. It is a small restaurant and is a bit difficult to park at times being right off Guadalupe. The first thing that hits you is you enter is the smoke from the meat. It... More

We've come here for years, off and on. Our son and daughter-in-law used to eat here so often they had Ruby's cater their wedding reception. We were in Austin for a football game plus a music festival was going on. Everything was packed. We wanted BBQ and decided to try Ruby's since it had been a while. It was a... More

Why stand in line for BBQ? I know that's the "Austin experience" now at some BBQ places... and maybe great BBQ is worth a 1-hour wait.... but not when you're hungry for some VERY GOOD smokey, authentic PIT BBQ.... and we found it here. We were craving brisket for lunch, and i looked up several restaurants' ratings... wanting to try... More

After eating BBQ in several excellent places in and around Austin, we went to Ruby's and thought it was the BEST! Especially the brisket. Definitely a "diner, drive-ins, and dives" atmosphere, but very clean. Was not crowded, as we ate early, but it probably gets packed later on. Kid-friendly, will come back here when we are in town.
