I usually make a meal of their appetizers. Do not expect Mexican-style spice levels. Food well prepared and hearty.
Every time I've gone, the food is over-cooked. Not much flavor. But, on a good note, they have the best Mojitos in town!!
It's time to let go of the past, when Dona Emilia's was a hole in the wall on east 7th and served awesome food. It still does--it's just a different kind of awesome, and it's a different kind of food. It's like a totally different restaurant with the same name.
Try the Tuna.
Tuna/yucca fries is the best dish in town. Best spicy margs as well.
Not so much flavor
I went to this resturant with a group of 10 during lunch on Memorial Day. They have great lunch specials for such high quality food. I would love to go again with friends.
Dona Emilia makes the Tres Leches fresh each day!
This would be four stars except for the breakfast taco debacle. Arepas, arroz con pollo and ajiaco soup are fan-frakkin'-tastic.
The atmosphere is kind of impersonal and eurotrashy, I think, but the menu has some worthwhile items, like the goat cheese appetizer.
