Best Brisket - Moist and Tender A Great Experience without Plates

Over a two week stay in Austin I had numerous lunches/dinners with Brisket as the main course. Nothing compared to Rudy's though. Choices are limited (brisket in 3 forms) sausage and chicken but people come here for the brisket. Chose 1lb of the Moist brisket at $18.49 for two plus a pint of crème... read more

We went for out team dinner here. Kept an opened mind as it looks quite weird when you walk in. We were really taken care of, go to taste first and order after that. Really good bbq, nothing fancy, just good food!

A trip to Austin is NOT complete without a stop by Rudy's BBQ on Capital of Texas Hwy. Every time we visit Austin we eat in or take out! The brisket and cream corn is a staple on our Austin menu. Over the years there aren't many items we haven't sampled, and it is all tasty and fun. The picnic... More

We do take-out from Rudy's frequently. It's a standout in Austin. My favorite side is the creamed corn, but everything is consistently good. The only problem I've encountered is the long lines.

Was visiting Austin recently and discovered Rudy's. It looked like a one-off establishment with its quirky diningroom with long picnic-like tables, no plates, and plastic dinnerware. The diningroom looked like a converted auto mechanic repair bay with big doors leading to an outside area. They also had a 7-11 like store attached to the restaurant. The staff is friendly and... Ate at Rudy's last night for my first time. I had to sample everything they had to offer and I must say that everything I had was excellent. The home-made sausage was excellent - my favorite of the two is the jalapeno sausage....... with a light drizzle of the sauce - outstanding! Baby backs were great, St. Louis style were... More

Out in the boondocks of west Austin where the likes of Franklin's BBQ are nowhere to be found, Rudy's will do nicely for a BBQ fix. Upon return from our travels, we make it a point to pay homage to this temple of smoke in our neighborhood. Staff is friendly and welcoming, and the fare and prices more than decent.... More

It seems odd to eat in an enlarged gas station, but this is my favorite Bar-B-Que place in town. Some other places have more atmosphere, but this has better food. The BBQ is very good. The new potatoes are delicious. If you eat there, try the creamed corn--but it doesn't travel well. The cole slaw is absolutely wonderful. Enjoy.

Wonderful BBQ in an easy family style setting. Restaurants are clean and the food is always good and reasonably priced. We enjoy all the locations around Texas and now in Arizona too! Great place to get a consistently good meal.
