Visited my cousin's family whom I have not seen for 15 years. He took us here and we had great time. The brisket was great! Tender and juicy. We had total 5 pound of meat for 6 adults and 2 kids! And we were all stuffed and satisfied in stomach and heart! Nice place for gathering but you need to... More

Love Rudy's. A must stop in Austin for years. The brisket is the best, as is the banana pudding. Heck, everything is great, and don't forget your souvenir drink cup. Nothing like Rudy's on a nice day, with a mexican coke on the patio. If you don't like it, there is something wrong w/ you. Best sauce in Texas.

If you are visiting Austin, please try Rudy's before you leave. You will be very surprise! Who would thought a BBQ store right next to Shell gas station is this good! The first time i tried, my date took me there. I thought he was just xxxx... (you know). I took the bite out of the I can say Rudy's... More

My husband had been to Rudy's before and wanted us to try it. We were on our most recent trip to the heart of Texas and it sort of ended up being a barbecue tour! The minute we walked in the door, the staff was very friendly and helpful. "Have you ever been to Rudy's before?". Well, no. I hadn't.... More

All food is sold by the pound, and you select food for your party to be shared. The food is excellent and very tasty. There are no plates, but large pieces of waxed paper are given to you on which you put your food and eat off it. This is the first time I have encountered this way of eating.... More

I've been cooking smoked brisket for 30 years and think that mine is some of the best. Usually when I venture to try it at a restaurant I am seriously disappointed, Rudy's did not disappoint at all. Good well seasoned bark. Moist. Firm, but not tough. Very good. Their sausage however was very disappointing. It reminded me of mass produced... More

I love Rudy's. It's a simple enough design: you come up to the counter, order various meats and/or side dishes in quantities (usually in denominations of half-pounds), receive your food on a big tray with some bread, and pick up some onions, pickles, and sauce on the way to you table, and shovel everything you bought into your mouth. I... More

When you walk into a place that has a sign that says "Worst BBQ in Texas," you know they have a sense of humor... or they are awful. Anyhow, the service was fantastic. Everybody was energetic and friendly, the epitome of Texas hospitality. They even offered some small but free samples for my first visit. I ended up getting the... More

Let me start with that I was visiting from California. This place was inside of a gas station on the side of the road, when my friend said we needed to go, I was skeptical. BY FAR THE BEST BBQ I HAVE EVER EATEN!!! This is a MUST go to in Austin. I loved the food. The BBQ sauce was... More

I have a hard time with BBQ, my teeth cant handle the sugar and my belly cant handle the white bread. But its GOOOOOD BBQ, so I only eat bbq when I go to Austin, and I also eat Rubys.
