Great table side guacamole

The Iron Cactus sits on a corner in the Dirty 6th area of popular 6th street. It's a large clean restaurant in an area where cleanliness is apparently optional. The large wrap around upper outside deck is a great place to relax with a beer and some table side prepared guacamole. The chicken... read more

Stopped in for a lite bite and drinks. Sat at the bar and had a few drinks. Atmosphere was relaxed and easy going. Nachos were not good to me (spicy and flavor was not my thing)....however the next margarita I had was pretty good. Would visit again but right around the mid range of satisfaction.

Great service and good food. Had the pork enchiladas and they were good. A bit sweet though. Table side made guacamole was really good.

I am not impressed with the food that Iron Cactus has, and it's not for lack of trying. I have tried their skillet queso a few times, and it pretty good. The beef fajitas are not worth trying. However, I do recommend the drinks! Iron Cactus has an extensive menu of margaritas and other cocktails. The restaurant is three floors;... More

The food is fairly decent, but the vibe is a little corporate. It kind of feels like the equivalent of going to a Chipotle, while on a trip to Mexico. The plus is that it has a great view of the streets and Austin is an amazing city for people watching.

I saw the reviews for this place on my google maps app and decided to try the place out. I went to lunch alone during a conference and decided to go to their third floor and eat on the deck. I had plenty of scenery to look at and a nice breeze to enjoy. They have some extra friendly birds... More

Sat at the bar for dinner with no reservations or wait time. Bartender has a great personality. Complimentary chips and salsa were served first were very fresh and obviously homemade. Ordered the fish tacos and shrimp enchiladas that were excellent. Highly recommend.

The food here was very good, but eating on the terrace on a beautiful Austin evening made the experience even better. Mid priced and fast service.

We really enjoyed our margaritas made with fresh lime juice, and the service was friendly. Their outdoor seating on the patio on their second floor is pleasant. I just wish I could get more excited about the food. There is so much Mexican food in Austin and San Antonio where we also went on this trip, and we get plenty... More

Overall a good experience. Great location downtown with second floor balcony overlooking a main downtown street. Service was a little slow but appetizers and Mexico quite good. Prices in middle range. Great choice of beers and liquors, as u would expect. Not crowded on this day, surprisingly. Enjoyable. Would recommend.
