I just recently moved to Austin and this was the first meal that really wowed me. I got the flat iron steak for around $25 and it was comparable to a steak ordered in a steak house. Be careful going here though, I've seen the line to get a table out the door on many occasions. I guess that's just... More

I love the ambiance of this historic spot! Specialty patio cocktails were well balanced, yet packed a punch. Their ribs were touted, but although the cofee/brown sugar sauce was delicious, the meat was decidedly NOT falling off the bone, but actually a little tough. Flat iron steak was enjoyed, as well as the green chili grits. We will return!

If you want an Austin eating experience, you need to go to Moonshine. Very casual, indoors or out, with a good selection of everything from whiskey through desert. I actually went twice during my stay. First had the blackened catfish, then for the second trip the Hanger Steak. Both were great. My table mates made me taste their desert... Thankfully.... More

The building is historic, 1852. The ribs were exceptional. The Jalapeño Hanger steak was fantastic. Beer were good, bottles and cans, no draft. Surprised me. No frozen drinks. My wife had a couple of margaritas, they were kind of light on the tequila. We ate outside on the patio, too may flies. I suggest you eat inside. Overall a very... More

Moonshine showcases the best of what Austin is all about; eclectic well prepared food that doesn't stray too far to the snobby or expensive side. Many delicious menu items to choose from in a comfortable setting is why we make this a regular stop when in Austin.

The restaurant does not take reservations so when we showed up we were disappointed to see that most of the patios we're taken over for private dining (rest is near convention center). We were told around a 1.25hr wait. We really wanted to try this place (billed as so. comfort food) so we hoped the wait was wrong. We were... More

This is a great place in downtown Austin. The food is excellent--a little different from the normal fare. Location is great and the service was really good.

The advertisements on Google implied that there was brunch buffet served on Saturday. We found out that this was not the case. Only on Sundays said the waitress. The food was OK, my "green chile macaroni" was way too spicy to enjoy. Also the valet was nowhere to be seen so we parked at a pay parking lot nearby.

We had one of everything, haha. The fajita salad is really delightful and the PB pie is great!!!! Service was really fantastic. Seems like it is a trendy spot but it is worth the stop. Cannot wait to go back when I am in Austin again in a few weeks.
