Sausage is too legit to quit

Went to this place on a business trip, my first to Austin. Having heard all about Texas barbecue, I wanted to try a "real" example. Walked into the Iron Works and there's an overpowering smell of burning wood (mesquite? pecan?). So far, so good. There's a line of folks waiting for the friendly... read more

The staff is friendly. I thought the food was good, I did not like the BBQ sauce. There is no air conditioning. This is a good restaurant for college students and families.

The family and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The girls had beef brisket which was very good. I had the big meaty beef ribs and they were the best I've had. TENDER and juicy with some carmelized crispy edges, just perfect. Mac and cheese and corn on the cob rounded out the meal with cold beer. Every one is friendly... More

It was hot Monday night i Austin, so most of the BBQ trucks and restaurants were closed. Iron Works was open and they had gotten good ratings so that's where we headed. One of the reasons we went there instead of the handful of places that were open was because they had a sampler plat with ribs, brisket and sausage.... More

Upon arriving in Austin, my co-worker wanted BBQ since Austin in known for it. So we tried a place that was "within walking distance". However, not so much if you are working for 20 min in 101 degree weather. My first thought when I arrived here was "ah air conditioning". Was I sadly mistaken. There was no A/C in the... More

The setting itself is worth it. No air conditioning means a hot restaurant but the setting is what makes this place. The food is above average BBQ but not the best that I have had. The brisket is very good as is the sausage and the beef ribs are large. The problem is the sauce. The sauce is almost too... More

So my friends and I ended up here after Franklins was closed for the weekend and La BBQ line was wrapped around the block. Iron Works has decent BBQ, nothing too special about it. The beef ribs and sausage were my favorite. The pork ribs and brisket were my least favorite. The potatoe salad and Mac & cheese were average.... More

Let's get straight to it! BBQ Sauce: HORRIBLE, taste like A1 with Worchestire sauce, with ketchup. The spicy sauce had a better taste to it, with a darker color. Dissapointed. Pork Ribs: Nothing special about these ribs and lack the proper bark for good pork ribs. They were tender though, couldn't add BBQ sauce to them, since the sauce is... More

We ended up here after seeing the 3-block long lines at Franklins and La barbecue as it had a decent yelp rating. The brisket was soft and juicy, and went well with cream corn on the side. Overall, this joint wouldn't disappoint but nothing to rave about either

Great beef ribs, like the best we'd ever had. My husband and I ordered a soft drink, a beer and the sampler with an extra rib added for like $36. The brisket, sausage, bbq sauce and coleslaw were excellent as well. Potato salad not bad just not my style as it has celery in it.
