We were driving downtown Austin looking for a place to eat and there was this kind of funny looking old building with awesome aromas coming from it. It had what we look for, )we seek out the places with the most pickup trucks parked in front of it because that is where you find the best food!) It was pretty... More

I had the ribs which were nothing special. I wasn't crazy about the sauce and the ribs were not very tender. The sides were not very good at all.

A real small place that looks kind of run down but is probably quite authentic for what it offers. The brisket sandwich was great, and you get your food almost immediately as you order at the counter. Prices were really reasonable.

Simple, straightforward BBQ - you stand in line (moves fast), order up at the counter and then take your plate to your seat. It's a rustic room that will no doubt be packed so you may have to wait for a table. Yummy food - the pork ribs are great - nice prices and portions. Not a fan of the... More

We went during SXSW music and the line was out the door. But we still ordered within 15 minutes (and you get your food immediately). The prices are reasonable, lots of open tables even during a peak dining time, and conveniently located to many music venues. The food is so much better than the stuff from the food trucks across... Love Iron Works! I go there every time I'm in Austin. My personal favorite is the chopped beef sandwich (fresh sliced onion and pickles are available on request). When I got there at lunch time, the peach cobbler was still warm. The only thing that could have made it better was some vanilla ice cream.

Simple atmosphere, picnic bench, order at the counter. Had some potato salad, beans, cole slaw and beef ribs. The ribs were meaty and good. Was in a group of eight and some had sausage, sliced beef, pork ribs, smoked turkey and chicken. Everyone was positive about the food. I would go back.

The brisket was very good according to two in our party, as was the chicken. Drinks are in ice in old chest type soda coolers - nothing like a drink on ice! Prices were very reasonable. We arrived at 6pm on a Saturday and the line was almost nonexistent, by 7:15 a line had formed to the door.

This is Tx and yes the brisket has the fat left in. I guess it is what you get used to; I have not been able to "appreciate" the dryer beef up north. The good news is the Iron works does it right for the entire menu. Of course I am biased; for me this is some of the best... More

This is a very casual joint -- walk up to the counter, order your food, they slap it on a paper plate and then you find somewhere to sit. The baby back ribs and brisket are great. Beef ribs just okay.
