Big ribs and tasty meat

Came here during SXSW interactive with some work colleagues and had a great meal. You line up and order from the kitchen window and the food is prepped and thrown on a tray ready for you quickly. A real Texan BBQ feel with barrels of beer and everything made of wood the place had a good vibe to it... read more

Food is ok, but not great. In my opinion I have had better BBQ in Austin. For the price I rather go to a different place to eat BBQ.

It's not glamorous, it probably won't win any Michelin stars and you probably wouldn't go there in a suit, but it was one of the stand-out places during my trip to Austin. First visit I walked in with two friends and we got straight up to the counter to order our foods, sides, help ourselves to some super hot pickles... More

Great atmosphere in a rustic iron shed. No airs and graces, just line up and order, pick up your food, sit down and enjoy. Good brisket and plenty of it. Freezing outside and eating by a wood burning stove was great. Spend a hundred dollars in an overpriced Austin restaurant one night and eat here the next for what you... More

On my first visit to Austin I went here. Very low -key place, but an amazing bbq. Menu is simple with a few different offers, with the mixed-plate easily on top. The interior of the place is very simple, but that justs boosts the taste experience. Prices and service is good. Superb tasting bbq, and will definetly go again!

The restaurant is in a nice cosy warm iron house. There are plenty of wood burning stoves throughout. The food was pretty good with the brisket being the standout dish. The sausages were tasty but the ribs were just ok. A little tasteless & they didn't fall off the bone in the way they should. That said, the prices are... More

A friend took us to Iron Works and as I drove up I wasn't too sure about it. This a great old building that is even more amazing when you walk it. If you want white linens and table service this is not the place for you. It is like eating an 1800's facility right down to the two wood... More

We has been here once before a few years ago. We were glad it was walking distance from our hotel. The atmosphere is rustic and there is so much to take in. The brisket is very tender and, along with the sides, it fills you up. We will have to go back, again, to try the ribs, chopped beef, chicken,... More

Good wholesome food with a homecooked flavour. The brisket was 'melt-in-the-mouth" and the accompaniments were delicious too. Old style green beans and creamed corn is what I had but the other choices were tasty too.
