Good old BBQ

We actually were trying to go to moonshine but the wait was too long. We walked over here instead. Beware no air conditioning just some big coolers so it gets hot. The ribs were so tender and fell off the bone. Flavorful. My colleague said brisket was well done. Creamed corn was tasty as well... read more

This is a must "eat at" restaurant. The BBQ is so tender and tasty, the service is incredibly fast and the cost is so reasonable. Not a fancy restaurant but certainly where the locals go for good food.

First off I AM A NATIVE TEXAN of many, many years. This bbq is just OKAY, not the best by far. There is definitely something wrong with the bbq sauce, worst I have ever tasted!! The brisket was really dried out. My husband loved their ribs. Sides were good. Needs a different business model when placing your order, especially when... More

My first experience or Texas BBQ and hard to see what all the fuss is about. The brisket looked good, was tender and moist but there was absolutely no smoky BBQ taste to it. Served on plastic plates with plastic cutlery and accompanied by a very ordinary potato salad and cold slaw it was nothing special.

We went here during my bachelor party - 7 hungry guys and we were all very happy. Ribs were massive, brisket was our favourite though. Definitely through on their own hot bbq sauce.

During a recent trip to Austin, I kept trying and trying to find BBQ. I finally asked a native and they recommended either Iron Works or Lamberts. Their assessment was that both had excellent BBQ but that Lamberts was a tad fancier (it had air conditioning) and Iron Works was more down to earth. Was it ever! But what great... More

I have been going to Iron Works in downtown Austin for over twenty years and ate there again today. In general, I like the meat they serve. They have a deep menu of everything BBQ. I usually get the brisket - this is the gold standard for Texas-style BBQ. Iron Works brisket is usually nicely tender, but lacks a little... More

We had the BBQ and chicken dinners----absolutely fantastic! The memorabilia inside the restaurant was so neat, and the entire place is historical. The meat was so tender that a fork cut it! Definitely recommend and we'll be back when we visit Austin again.

A little iffy on the BBQ joint... I wasn't wowed by the Q that they have.. Seemed a little run of the mill to me. Don get me wrong, I enjoyed and finished my brisket sand-o without missing a piece, but i wasn't over the hill about it.. The brisket looks great and was very most, however the lack of... More

The Brisket and sausage were outstanding. As you would expect in a Texas BBQ establishment they cut your portion from the main cut right in front of you so there is no question about the freshness. There is no AC in the place, just large box fans so it can get a bit warm, but who cares when the food... More
