I am Italian, I've been living in the U.S. for 4 months and got the chance to visit this marvelous piece of America called Iron Works. I got the beef ribs. I am pretty sure the pork ribs were better, less dry, more juicy, but they had finished them. However, it is a lovely place, so easy, so traditional. Half... More

The outside and inside don't look like much but don't let that slow you down. The food is really good and the service is fast. I had the sampler platter with sides of mac & cheese and corn on the cob. Don't forget the blackberry cobbler.

This is one of those "hole in the wall" places that serves up good food and generous portions. Close to the Convention Center.

Another convenient to the Convention Center option (closed Sunday and Monday at this time). Lots of casual setting, indoors and patio. Table covered with appropriate checkered cloths with the paper towel roll at the ready. Ordered at the counter, grabbed our table and drinks. The food came quickly, with generous portions. We got there right before the rush, but even... More

After eating at dozens of Carolina barbecue restaurants, this was my first try at Texas barbecue. If Carolina 'cue feels like you're eating on a farm, Texas ' cue feels like you're eating on a cattle drive. They threw giant hunks of animal in the oven and it came out rough, with the signature pink bands of slow smoking, bold... More

plastic trays, cutlery and plates should not put you off this BBQ joint as it's one of the best BBQs in town. Order at the counter by the slice/pound or just point. A mix of sides like slaw, beans, mac cheese and then a slice of bread. As much free BBQ sauce and Jalapeños as you can handle and beer... More

I ordered the pork ribs plate, which comes with 2 sides, dill pickle and white onion slices, and white bread. Austin BBQ is not slathered with sauce, but sauce is provided on the tables (eat in). The meat was smoked to perfection with no residual fat. Yum! The pinto beans were very well seasoned, as were the green beans (the... More

I just recently moved to Austin and I was super excited to eat as much BBQ as possible. Iron Works was my first BBQ experience in Texas, and it was very good. I've since had better BBQ, but I like the overall feel of Iron Works and will continue to go there because I live and work nearby. The decor... More

La Barbeque has a feature where you can email a pre-order and pick it up later. I tried it and it did not work. I am not going to bad mouth La Barbecue "Cuisine Texicana" because they are still high on my 'Q' list. Luckily earlier that morning, I was talking about BBQ with a colleague and he mentioned Iron...
