What a beautiful plate of meat! Here's the drill..... - queue up at the counter - it might be busy - order your food - server passes you your food - collect your plastic cutlery and a drink - pay, sit down and enjoy Sounds a bit like Mcdonalds? thats were the similarity ends. This place is full of oldy... More

Iron Works is the real deal. Incredible (and huge) beef ribs, outstanding sides, an unpretentious, well-priced bbq joint, and a great place to enjoy good, hearty barbeque with friends or family. My friend had he sausage plate, and it was almost as good as mine. I can't wait to return to Iron Works the next time I'm in Austin. Those... More

Sad to say.... it has been too long since last I enjoyed their fine, flavorful fare! First visit was late winter 1980..... may not like the Dallas Cowboys but I love everything else about Texas, and Austin in particular! Hook 'em horns!

Been eating BBQ for more than 50 years. Iron Works has the best (and meatiest) Beef Ribs that I have ever had. Been eating at Iron Works for almost that long. Great location and neat, neat atmosphere

You can go to that place dressed up anyway you want to. And the food is delicious. You order, pay first, grab a table and eat ! Easy as that. You can have a quick lunch or dinner or stay a little bit more, no problem. I always get the brisket and is really good.

From the outside it certainly doesn't look like a restaurant, but don't be put off - inside it was nice and warm (even though it was freezing outside). The prices were good and the portions plentiful. You order at the kitchen window. I had the sampler with cole slow and creamed corn and it turned out to be a very... More

Nice hole-in-the-wall BBQ joint. We had the combo, which is brisket, sausage and 1 rib. Wash that down with a nice Austin Amber and we were happy campers. You order from the counter and expect everything to smell deliciously smoky. Prices are very modest.

Had dinner there and got the sampler -with brisket, sausage and beef rib. The sausage was spicy just the right way, beef rib and brisket pretty tasty. The side of creamed corn was decent. The sauce was ok but nothing exceptional. The ambience is very casual and laid back. There is no table service -you take your plate at the... More

In Austin this past weekend with the wife and we were looking forward to lunch at Iron Works. We had dined here in the past, although it has been years, and enjoyed the meal. This trip left us wanting a better experience. The meat was good and the sauce was still excellent, BUT, the sides were horrible. The coleslaw and... More
