We dined at South Congress Cafe on Sunday Sept 2nd. Restaurant was busy and is pretty small, but they were very accommodating for our party of 10. Staff is friendly and provided great service, unfortunately with it being 100 degrees outside their air condition broke. It was warm, but it did not ruin the meal. For appetizer we ordered the... We had the shrimp with risotto special, goat cheese salad, fettuccine pasta with chicken, and the butterscotch creme brulee & black cherry (?) bread pudding for dessert. They were all wonderful. My daughter really enjoyed her pasta and my son thought the creme brulee was the best he's ever had. We have all been fortunate enough to enjoy quality restaurants... More

Tried the Mexican Margarita and man what a value for what you get but I didn't love the flavor... Great service, scene, ambiance, and the food... I tried the pork loin and apples, incredibly delicious!!!! Now the set up was odd, almost a Tapas style is I'd recommend ordering some sides, starters, etc to ensure that you're adequately full. The... More

We recently were in Austin and found this place. It was a nice place in an eclectic part of Austin. We ordered Margatinis and Flaming cheese which were both great. the main courses were a southwestern twist on some classic American dishes. I would highly recommend it.

Love the Steak Migas for brunch. Bloody Marys here are a meal in itself. Great atmosphere for large groups. Tip, get there by 9am on weekends to make sure you get a spot for brunch/breakfast or you will hit a 2 hour wait time by 10am.

We come to South Congress Cafe on a Sunday, and we had to wait 40 minutes to be sitted but it was worth it. The service was great, very friendly and helpful. I love the ambience of the place, very comfortable but not all the way informal. We were able to talk and have a very pleasant time. The menu... More

We have had dinner and brunch at South Congress Cafe, and on both occasions we received excellent service. The food is very good, but not memorable. What we did not like is that it was very, very loud - uncomfortably loud - both times we visited.

Try their bloody Mary. It is the best I've had. Their crab cake egg Benedict was different and not what I had expected. Not sure if its a good thing. I was hoping for creamy egg yolks oozing out once I cut into the egg Benedict but it didn't happen. It was solidify if that make sense. I guess if... More

We had a great lunch. The goat cheese salad and the butter lettuce salad were both superb. The wait staff was young, friendly Austin: refreshingly cheerful and helpful. The on duty manager was very present and came by toast how everything was and he really wanted to know. Will definitely go back.

Great quality food and drinks with price to match. The food was excellent. We ordered a salad with tuna, and ribs, along with 2 waters. Everything tasted fantastic! And our meal was about $60. The place was packed without a bare table, the waitstaff and bar staff were attentive, but definitely not for the budget traveler, as meals average in... More
