Great brunch

Bloody Mary is a must-try. Huge brunch menu. We tried both of the brunch specials (migas on croissant and lemon ricotta pancakes). Yummy!!!

The South Congress Cafe is one of the better restaurants at which I have dined. The specials were fabulous enough to distract me from the regular menu, which was dauntingly populated with a plethora of choices to address any palate! The pork special with a blueberry sauce when I was there was tasty beyond expectation; however the steaks ordered by... More

Had heard nothing but good about the place but drinks order and bread came after soup was served. Soup was luke warm and had to be returned to the kitchen. I will give it another try but it may be a while

The crab enchiladas were one of the best enchiladas that i have tried. They took long to bring us the order, but they make it up, giving us some free fried calamari, that were excelent

This place was highly recommended and had good reviews so waited an hour for a table and dined on pretty standard food at prices that were a bit pretentious. I wouldn't bother returning or recommending it, sadly disappointing.

New Year prix fixe dinner was bit underwhelming. 3 course meal with 3 choices per course. Roasted beet salad didn't seem roasted but boiled. Serviceable. Roast pork loin was very good fingerling potatoes & baby brussel sprouts flavorless. Churros with vanilla ice cream light, delicate & delicious. Pros- dessert, service. Cons- beets, value versus interesting food, paper napkins.

Had the migas for breakfast and my wife had a mushroom artichoke omelet. The migas was the better of the two meals and was excellent. Omelet was good. Unfortunately we waited an hour and a half for a table ( on New Year's Eve). The staff couldn't be nicer and they offered us a free appetizer because we were told... More

As visitors to Austin, we came here with family and got to try a number of offerings. Overall, the quality was good, but some dishes succeeded more than others. The kale salad used al-dente cooked kale so the amount of kale was large, too large, I'd say. The ahi tuna appetizer was appealingly light, with a complex mix of flavors.... More

I'd heard so much about this place as a classic Austin diner, and it really is. The food was delicious and plentiful, the atmosphere down-home and comfortable. Plus it's on South Congress, so you can stroll around and shop and enjoy the vibe. Loved this place!

Noisy, busy, a bit of a wait for lunch, good menu choices, good service! I had the lump crab enchiladas, not as wonderful as they could have been. My companion had the brisket hash - she loved it. We both had one of their specialty infused liquor drinks - I had the Fire n Ice - it was GREAT but... More
