Located between two great art galleries - Russell Collection across the street and Wally Workman half a block up the street, and with a fantastic seafood restaurant nearby, Clark's Oyster Bar, this is a wonderful place to relax and take care of your "sweet tooth" - - and to bring home some great bread and desserts. Well worth the trip... More

Lots of lovely pastry choices and excellent coffee. They have other things as well like sandwiches and salads but I have not ever tried them. I bought cakes from them for years when I was needing them, and they were always spectacular. Cute spot in the middle of a few of my favorite browsing shops.

Since my kids were little, it has always been our tradition to visit Sweetish Hill Bakery to celebrate a good check-up at the dentist. The decorated cookies are always beautiful.

I love the small café atmosphere. Their coffee is very good and usually have an organic offering each day. They make bagels, which are called bialys, although these are smaller and somewhat lighter than your typical bagel. My favorite thing to get so far has been the Morning Glory Muffin, which is essentially a carrot cake in muffin form. It's... More

All their cookies are good buy I like their bee-sting cookie the best! I also tried their pesto chicken sandwich and it was ok.

I came in on a hot afternoon after walking around Sixth Street for the first time, I was wanting a pastry, but wanting water even more. I asked for two small cheese danishes that were priced at $1.25 each, plus tax. After I put $2.00 on the counter, the cashier said that was OK and explained where to find a... More

Ok - lived in Austin about a year and have heard rave reviews for Austinites about the Sweetish Hill Bakery... stopped by today at 11:30, they were not busy. I ordered the chick, cranberry salad sandwich from the handwritten daily special chalkboard, I was handed a PREMADE, cello wrapped sandwich from a stack of sandwiches sitting at counter. Didn't find a... More

Owner chased me next door where I was looking in the window. She said I was not could not leave sweetish hill property without moving my car out of sweetish hill lot. Seemed to kill my appetite for dining at sweetish hill ever again. This despite my offer to eat at her sandwich bar.

Sit outside or inside to enjoy their fresh-baked items with a beverage, or take it with you. This is a favorite stop for dessert when invited to a friend's home for dinner. Last purchase: pumpkin cheesecake (seasonal) - yum! Reluctantly left the remainder with the friends.
