We came into town for the weekend and wanted something special, something "Austin". Friends recommended Curra's. In short, great atmosphere (we loved the fact that it is next to a gas station!) and great food! Drinks were pretty tasty as well! But I must say, our server was just not interested in us at all. Slow service, forgotten drinks, could... More

I live in Austin, and this is one of the main restaurants that my friends and I always come back to. Anytime we have visitors in town, we take them the Curras. The food is great. I've honestly never had something that I didn't like. My favorites are the Cancun Tacos, the Tamales, or the Caldo. Get the refried black... More

Had not been here for a dozen years, and did not remember it well, but once I ate lunch here, I came back twice more in as many days. Spectacular food! The chilaquiles were the perfect food for the morning after, the pork tacos al pastor were delightful, light and complex. Refried beans so creamy and soothing, nice chips and... More

This was one of my favorites. Was excited to get to go. When we walked in the place was dirty. The floors looked old, needing cleaning. The seating is almost worn out. If the food had been great it would not be an issue. I had vegetarian tacos, tasted old. My refried beans were good. My wife had enchiladas. She... More

Curra's Grill is the the best Interior Mexican food place in Austin. It's not a fancy place, just very good food. The wait staff is busy and service is adequate. It's filled with locals and off the beaten path. The pork dishes are all good and we love the guacamole side salad. The freshly made hot sauce is the best.... More

My husband and I courted in this restaurant 15 years ago. We have since moved out of state. On a recent visit back to the Austin area in early June 2014, we were staying a hotel about 1 mile away from Curra's. Since they open early for breakfast and we knew they had a patio, we called @8:30am to ask... More

We arrived at 2:45pm and were quickly seated. Menus came, as did water and chips. And then we waited and waited and waited. We were tempted to order our margaritas directly from the bar, but decided to wait instead. Our waitress finally appeared, and apologized, saying she was restocking in the back. Our order was taken, and the food delivered... More

THe food is good, but the real draw is the avocado margarita. So delicious. Creamy goodness. I also had the vegetable tamales which were good. Good prices too

If you want a more authentic Austin Tex-Mex experience, I highly recommend Curra's. Their mole is fantastic and flavorful, and my dude loves the carnitas. They also have a "crema de calabaza" zuccini soup that must be tasted to be believed - yummy hot or cold. Atmosphere is funky and casual.

This is the way I remember Tex Mex food from once living in Texas: simple surroundings a little off the beaten track and great food. My wife and I had a good experience here. She tried the avocado margarita and liked it a lot. In my youth, I would come to places like this on a Sunday morning for heuvos... More
