Good food!

The down home cooking is delicious! The staff is great! The margarita is ok. The menu is quite large and everything looks delicious. It was difficult to make a decision but I settled on the King Ranch Chicken and was not disappointed.

We had fried chicken livers, Texas squash casserole, black eyed peas, country fried steak, fried okra, butter beans and collard greens. The livers and steak were tasty and hot. Some of the veggies were lukewarm and began life as a frozen veggie. Others were unseasoned and bland. The corn bread and yeast rolls were yummy. We think this would be... More

It had been several years since I had eaten here. Seems the same as it used to be. Plenty of other reviews here put it a step above average. I'd say that was about right. Just need to recognize this food is pretty close to what your Southern mom would make at home and there's a reason your mom isn't... More

Went on a Sunday night about 7:30pm. Ordered the pot roast which was delicious! The mac and cheese was awesome. Great service, and great prices

My wife and I stopped in for lunch, in part based on the TA reviews. We weren't disappointed. Our meals were very good and very large. There was a lot of food for the price. Our server was excellent.

I went to this place back in 1982 when it was called Armadillo Headquarters back in the Great Stevie Ray Vaughn days. They had many concerts here . I saw the Cobras which was Stevie Rays band with the Thunderbirds (Stevies brothers band) Joe King Carasco and Omar and the Howlers. It was BYOB and had a dirt floor. You... More

Love this place. Everything tastes good except their hot rolls. Back in the day they put red peppers or pimentos in them. So good! But our recent visits have found the plain rolls dry. Just had to mention it in hopes they'll improve their hot rolls.

Disclaimer: Reviewer is vegetarian I dined recently for lunch in the downtown location after rush and settled on the three vegetable plate. The food is real tradition and down homey. The menu is quite helpful in the selection of reasonable fair with an "M" by each item prepared with meat. The decor is eclectic and I say that with my... More

We had a group of five, including two kiddos (who were very hungry). Our waitress, Annie, was amazing and brought the kids rolls immediately. We ordered and had more food than any of us could eat. I had their famous chicken-fried steak (I only got about half way through it... that entree was large enough to feed 2-3 people). It... More
