It had been over 5 years since moving out of Austin and was looking forward to having a tasty dinner at Threadgill's. Unfortunately, the food was not what I remembered. It was not hot, the catfish batter was thick and unseasoned. The asparagus, wilted and not crisp. However, the service and ambiance was great. Just a little disappointed in the... More

We were recommended by a friend to dine here. She said it was amazing but I'm going to have to go with ok. It's very Luby's style cuisine with a sir down atmosphere. Generic is about the best way to describe it. The only "real" cooked type entree was the pecan crusted chicken. It was definitely not "freezer to fryer"... More

My last trip was over 2 years ago- what happened?!?! My pecan chicken was fabulous but that's about it. The broccoli rice casserole was disgusting!! My mom's fried catfish and scalloped potatoes had no seasoning or taste whatsoever!!! We won't be back!!

The food was very average on this trip. We have eaten at this Threadgill's many times. The services was great, but the food was not. Not sure if it was what we got, but 3 out of 5 meals were ok, but not great.

One of the better Austin restaurant experiences we had during the week. It is a very large bar / restaurant / music stage venue with good food, good drinks, good service and good prices. This is probably the only restaurant with butter beans on the menu along with other vegetables. Check Threadgill's music schedule for performers and show times. Question:... More

Have been here so often, tried pretty much everything on the menu. Never been disappointed. Thursdays special is chicken and dumplings. If you finish the first bowl, and you will, you get a second bowl free. All the veggies are wonderful, so many options, hard to pick just a couple. Chicken fried Steak is heavenly. Atmosphere is really cool. Two... More

Many years ago, my husband and I tried Threadgill's on Lamar. We had heard so many raves about it. We had seen several plates being served to other patrons and they all look scrumptious. Couldn't wait to get our food. What a disappointment. Although it looked good, it was bland...no seasoning. Okay, maybe it was a bad day for the... More

I didn't even know this place WS here. I was staying in the Hyatt nearby and was looking for a place to eat dinner. Luckily I saw it on Bing maps, or I might have missed it since its not too visible from the street. They have good southern cooking, and a relaxed atmosphere. They also have live gospel music... Threadgills Armadillo World Headquarters is a fun place with reasonably priced good Southern food. We found this place by chance while vacationing in Austin which turned out to overlap the South by Southwest (S X SW) in March 2014, a music/film festival & trade show with over 300,000 people! Yikes! A ton of live music and lots of fun. Threadgills... More
