Must Go

Everyone told me to go to Uchi while I was in Austin. They were right! This place is truly fantastic. We had the chef's tasting menu which consisted of five or six of his most famous dishes. I am not a fan of fusion restaurants and was skeptical of this place, but the food was incredible. Get your... read more

The host wearing a leather jacket with white stripes down the side was extremely unwelcoming to one of the girls in our group. The food was pretty good but a couple of the dishes missed the mark (sashimi was not super fresh). Overall experience was only a three because the price to fish quality wasn't hitting the mark. The fish... More

Uchi is at the very top of my list of great Austin restaurants. I was worried due to seafood allergy, but it was not a problem. If you cannot do raw, plenty of equally delicious options. We had a variety of dishes and ALL of our choices were fantastic. The Brussels sprouts and foie were highlights along with the peanut... More

Went here on a date when nothing was withheld so of course I had the best meal here. The service is incredible, everything we ordered was amazing. Dishes were so thoughtfully and perfectly combined in color, texture and taste. A must go!

We usually do not do Sushi but this was a fabulous experience for the novice(like us ) or the experienced Sishiite. The staff is most helpful and attentive to our every need and question. The chef and his staff coul not have provided a better dining experience. Now we look at the Sushi Experience in a whole new light.

I've had better quality fish at top sushi restaurants, but the small plates and rolls here are unsurpassed in terms of unique ingredients and flavors. Fabulous meal! Standouts included: tastings -- machi cure, hama chile and kabocha tempura; nigiri -- boquerones, opaleye and mushroom; and maki -- zero sen and a special that featured hamachi, asparagus tempura and Asian pear.... Excellent sushi. Plan ahead. You will need a reservation. Wait staff is very helpful if you need help deciphering the menu or making selections. Extremely well prepared and fresh. Very high quality.

Our waitress was incredibly helpful and described each dish with perfection. We loved her suggestions. Each dish was flavorful! We go out for sushi often at home but Uchi surpasses all of our other experiences. We'll definitely go back next time we're in Austin.

It's a very popular thing to do, to go to their happy hour on weekday evenings. You need to get there by 5 but earlier is even better. Must get your name on the list but they won't seat you until your entire party arrives... i.e. they'll seat tables ahead of you until then. The food... wow. Very incredible and... More

We did not have a reservation and it was approximately 1 hour wait on a Wednesday night but it was worth it. We enjoyed a crisp wine in the garden before our meal and some wonderful appetizers. Be sure to try the blistered shishito peppers (oh my..). Our server, Lauren was so helpful and relaxed in guiding us through the... More
