OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG! Let's see, what else? Oh yeah! OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!! This place took my taste buds on a magical journey. The soup, the salad, the sushi, and the dessert were all top notch. Thank you to my chef, Yoshi. I'll be back in the future but I will bring friends to... More

We had dinner at the sushi bar. Tako sunomono was excellent as were other starters. We ordered some mixed nigiri and rolls. One of the rolls was a spicy tuna roll. It came out as a basic tuna roll with some spicy sauce on the side. The sushi chef asked how it was and we said OK but prefer a... More

following recommendation of GQ food critics we have visited Uchi in October 2014. We wish there would be more Uchi's and Uchiko's (San Antonio) in the whole world! In spite of the size of the Restaurant the service was great and food was coming from the open kitchen very timely. The food combination never ceased to amaze with surprising pairings... More

Call it provincial pride, call me a barbaric American tourist, but after three weeks of Japanese kaiseki haute cuisine in Tokyo and Kyoto, I am convinced that Uchi does Japanese cuisine better then the Japanese. It's a joy to eat there; Uchi has opened the minds and palates of many people, including me.

The food was exceptionally great. Despite the 2 hour wait, we enjoyed the atmosphere and excellent food. The 10 course meal was memorable and delicious!

Tip #1) Make dinner reservation with time! The first time I went to Uchi, I failed to make reservations and waited 2 hours to get a table. Time really flew by however, because we were able to buy a bottle of wine and enjoy it in the nice outdoor area available. While we waited, we were also able to order... More

I guess I was expecting better, after all I've heard about Uchi. The food was good, but it was not the best sushi or Japanese food I've had, especially for the price. We went for a Saturday evening dinner, got there 15 minutes before they started seating, and weren't seated until 35 minutes later. We saw several folks waiting up... More

I have eaten sushi in NYC, Seattle, San Francisco, and many cities in between and I can honestly say this is some of the best sushi I have ever had. The foie gras and bacon steaky are particularly original and sumptuous. I love the atmosphere too, lovely but unpretentious.
