We had a stunning experience watching the bats fly out from under the South Congress Bridge. Thread gill's is a block from the south end of there bridge, I recommend it but don't expect fine dining. That being said, we had a perfectly acceptable dinner. I had grilled shrimp, broccoli and cheese grits which were great! Husband had the pecan... More

Funky little joint with a cool atmosphere. Austin music history at its best. The food is southern comfort style. Taste is pretty bland. Being from the South this is not a good representation of what Southern food should taste like. One word "seasoning"...you need more of it.

Terrific place for breakfast or Barbecue. Or chicken Fried steak. It's all very good.Large room teeming w/ families. Live Country Music in the back room quite often. The corrugated aluminum building used to house the Armadillo, and posters and photos from that time abound. Fairly priced, pleasant staff.

Wide choices on the menu, but the food always tastes like it was made in a fast food restaurant. Food was not hot, breading was overly thick. The vegetable and 'sides' were delicious though.

Enjoyed dinner here recently, although the food was rather average, in my opinion. I'm not the biggest fan of southern comfort food though. They do have a large selection of different vegetable side dishes, maybe next time I'll try more of them. The prices and value are great: it's easy to overeat without busting your budget! The atmosphere was nice,... More

I've been here a few times for SXSW related parties and shows and always had fun. I love the outdoor space! Last week I ate here for the first time and was underwhelmed. With what seemed to be plenty of staff and not too many customers, our server changed three times and our food took 45 minutes. No one was... More

My son and I were headed to the Blue Man Group show, and we wanted to stop and eat prior to it. I have never been to Austin, so the fact that Threadgills was next to the theater was very good. They did have the brunch buffet out, but we opted to eat from the menu. The portions were large,... More

Cold food. No taste. Burger was a frozen piece of cardboard. We were very disappointed. Banana pudding was instant with NO bananas.

We went in for a late lunch, with a group of friends. I kinda balked at going to Threadgills as I'd been here years ago, and I didn't really care for it then. People in our party pretty much agreed with me after the experience. My daughter, five others and myself ordered their "world famous chicken fried steak". Wow is... More
