Sunday Brunch

I was a regular Threadgill's customer until I moved out of central Austin. I went back for the first time in about five years this Sunday and it was as good as ever. The "Gospel Brunch" was in progress but the music wasn't disturbingly loud. We ordered off the regular menu. My wife had liver and... read more

Service was fine but food was terrible. Fried green tomatoes were overbreaded and overcooked, as was the Chicken Fried Steak....and supposedly, it's their specialty. The vegetables were literally tasteless. And the mash potatoes and gravy were stodgy and pasty. However, the buttermilk pie was great........actually, the filling was great. The crust was terrible. I went here on the recommendation of... More

The chicken fried chicken was the best I have ever had. The scalloped potatoes were tender and just cheesy enough. This was the first time I've had spinach casserole but won't be the last. Overall, a wonderful dining experience.

Oh what a treat! Austin is a food haven. Period. And Threadgill's was incredible! The food -- a brunch buffet -- pretty much assures that you'll eat more than you should. The grits (my first time eating them) were delicious and the biscuit was to die for. All the food was highly satisfying for a Sunday brunch. But what made... More

Threadgills is an Austin treasure. On a recent trip to the North Lamar location, I was reminded how good a Chicken Fried Steak cam be. Cut it with a fork! A great choice of sides, that are well prepared and delicious. Southern Comfort food at its best.

It is very difficult to find family dining in the Austin area. This is the place to go. The food is reasonable, the portions are large and it is close to the Bat Watching cruises.

Lots of vegetables to choose from, but nothing to write home about. The salad was fresh, but had a lot of tough stalks in it. The lime dressing was the highlight. We enjoyed the basket of muffins and rolls, but they weren't especially fresh. Maybe it was due to the lateness of our dinner. It was nice to see posters... More

Went for lunch, had buffalo chicken sandwich with fries. Fries were soggy and cold, buffalo chicken sandwich was fair at best.
