You know what is wrong with this place?

NOTHING! It is a great place to eat, hang out with friends, and have an al around good time. I take folks from all over the US to this joint for what I feel to be a fair representation of the "Austin Experience" - real deal food made by real-deal folks!

Oh what a treat! Austin is a food haven. Period. And Threadgill's was incredible! The food -- a brunch buffet -- pretty much assures that you'll eat more than you should. The grits (my first time eating them) were delicious and the biscuit was to die for. All the food was highly satisfying for a Sunday brunch. But what made... More

Threadgills is an Austin treasure. On a recent trip to the North Lamar location, I was reminded how good a Chicken Fried Steak cam be. Cut it with a fork! A great choice of sides, that are well prepared and delicious. Southern Comfort food at its best.

It is very difficult to find family dining in the Austin area. This is the place to go. The food is reasonable, the portions are large and it is close to the Bat Watching cruises.

Lots of vegetables to choose from, but nothing to write home about. The salad was fresh, but had a lot of tough stalks in it. The lime dressing was the highlight. We enjoyed the basket of muffins and rolls, but they weren't especially fresh. Maybe it was due to the lateness of our dinner. It was nice to see posters... More

Went for lunch, had buffalo chicken sandwich with fries. Fries were soggy and cold, buffalo chicken sandwich was fair at best.

Still good after all these years! Yes it was better when you are able to see Janis Joplin and food was cooked in lard before Gestapo Headquarters forced the change of oil. It is still good after all these years. chicken fried steak!
