Seriously. Aaron Franklin learned from Mike. The bbq feud used to be Aaron vs Mike. But locations have changed and there are now way too many opinions floating around. The moist brisket is amazing. Perfectly smoked. Amazing bark. You can taste the passion this man has for his que. Pork ribs were excellently prepared to a fall off the bone... More

Franklins packed ,2 hour wait for La Que so went down the street to John Mueller. To get in, you walk by dumpsters which smell like last week's garbage. Then you get to see surely John. Asked for moist brisket, sausage & a couple of ribs. Asked for a coke & reached into a tub of water with dead bugs,... More

We arrived about 12:30 on a Saturday. The line wasn't long and took about 20 minutes to order. We were fortunate as they closed the gate soon after we arrived. By the time we ordered, the only meat option left was the brisket. It's not what my husband or I planned to order, but I'm glad it worked out that... More

Concierge at Barton Creek advised us to stop by Muellers for Barbecue and it was a good thing I listened. Have made the Franklin's pilgrimage and although it lived up to it's billing, Muellers did not disappoint. In fact, i found the brisket exceptional if not better than the boys down the street. John, I'll be back next time I... More

Sopped in on a recent BBQ trip to Austin. Having stopped in at many of the other top places in and around Austin, I really felt that this was the best I've had. We went on a weekday and showed up an hour before opening, fearful of the long lines at places like la BBQ and Franklin's, only to discover... More

We headed to John Mueller's after we found out the wait for Franklin's Barbecue was around ...waaaaaaay too long. Anyways, it got some good reviews in Texas Monthly Magazine which had done us well previously so we thought we'd check it out. The place was pretty unique, actually a little dirty or un-kept. All I care about it the brisket... More

We ordered ribs and brisket were not disappointed. It was a cool atmosphere - outdoors with picnic tables bad tent covering. Authentic and delicious BBQ. We will visit again.

After reading all kinds of reviews about "the best" BBQ in Austin, we went to John Muellers Meat Company at 6th and Pedernales and I am glad we did. We got there at 10:30, just as he opened the gate, with about 30 people in line ahead of us. Once the line formed up inside the fenced area, John came... More

Came for lunch on Sunday. They had a band as well as some free alcohol. The place had the feel of a big family BBQ. John even welcomed us and made sure we knew to get some drinks. Get here early if you want beef ribs because they sell out quickly. We had brisket, turkey, and pork ribs. All were... More
