This was restaurant was recommended to me as one to visit while we were in Austin. I am so glad that we went. I had the chicken fried steak, potato salad, fried okra, and black-eyed peas as well as a piece of the buttermilk pie while my husband had the fried catfish. The food was wonderful and the portions were... More

I had the nitrate free gluten free BBQ sausage, that came withThree sides. I had a fresh side salad, black eyed peas. Came with tasty cornbread muffins. Great choices. Great service.

We visited for lunch after visiting the LBJ Library following a recommendation from the lady in the LBJ gift shop. She was not wrong! The meatloaf and lemonade were great, so was the service. Highly recommended.

It was a little out of the way from where we were staying. Not to far, just off the beaten path. The food was very good and the service was excellent. They had local specials and everything tasted home cooked! My husband even suggested that we go there a second time on our trip! Very good food and service. We... More

We used to eat at Hoovers when they were in San Antonio and were very disappointed when they closed the restaurant. This weekend we were in Austin and looked Hoovers up and decided to have lunch there. We were not disappointed! The jerk chicken was as amazing as before as we're the yummy sides and the sweet potato biscuits. Our... More

Anderson, our waiter, might have provided the best service I've had in Austin. Gave great recommendations, friendly, and was great when we split the check 5-ways. Food was excellent - and prices fair.

Hoovers is excellent and has something for everyone. Smoked meats and chicken fried steak. About 12 home cooked veggies to chose from. Sweet potato muffins and cornbread. I always get the smoked burger because its different than charbroiled. Banana pudding and pies to die for. Great place.

I really enjoyed my recent visit to Hoovers after a local talked me into coming here instead going to another place that is supposed to be fairly touristy. And I did get the sense that this was a locals kind of place, populated with Austinites enjoying tasty southern comfort food. Everything here was done very well and the choices and... More
