1886 Cafe for breakfast

It was difficult to choose a breakfast - there were serval excellent choices. The portions sizes were huge, I think we could have split one breakfast between two of us - even the continental breakfast my daughter got was enough fruit for two. Only thing keeping me from giving it a 5 is that... read more

If you love fried chicken, add the honey glazed fried chicken to your bucket-list. The service was excellent and huge portion. Make sure you are really hungry if are planning to take down this dish by yourself!

Sorta small menu, sorta small seating area. Great food, so-so service. Ambiance is fabulous, restaurant is situated in old hotel. Food was good, although it touts itself as a bakery, no baked goods were seen. Would have loved a display case with featured items or a basket of fresh goodies.they need to up the charm of the staff to match... More

Here's one of those best possible, tastiest all-American food spots in a historic downtown hotel ... Had 5 family members from DC, Nashville, Boston, and Chicago, visiting us here in Austin for the Christmas 2014 holidays. Decided to take them on a tour of the famous Driskill Hotel and have lunch at the 1886 Café. A bit drafty in the... More

We love to make the trip to Austin just to have breakfast at the Driskell 1886 Cafe and Bakery. The waffles are shaped like Texas and they are crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth in the middle. They are served with delicious maple syrup and fruit. The coffee is fresh and hot. It is so relaxing and... More

We had Sunday brunch at 1886 Cafe & Bakery. We shared a cinnamon roll that was huge and delicious! Then we had breakfast entrees which ranged from quiches to egg dishes that were all unique and tasty. The service was very good and the atmosphere is like stepping back in time.

We stopped by the 1886 cafe for coffee and dessert. The chocolate cake had been recommended to us and it lived up to its reputation! The cafe has a very friendly atmosphere and Tori, our server, made us feel very welcome. We did not feel rushed in any way, and enjoyed the atmosphere and experience in the Driskill.
