Driving by on vacation and took a chance on lunch as the place was packed at noon on a Friday. Weather beautiful and loads of people eating outside in the "shady grove" Very local place with great portions and good food. Loved the chicken tacos. Waitress was super nice and gave us tips on things to do in Austin which... More

Visited Shady Grove mid-week just before the Austin City Limits festival began with friends from out of town. Shady grove has Tex Mex as well as other options and and extensive drink menu. There is both indoor and outdoor seating and an outdoor band stage that was not in use the night we visited. There are multi-colored outdoor light strings... More

We had lunch outside on a gorgeous day. The food was delicious. And it was very kid friendly. Our service was mediocre and they need better gluten free options.

When we used to live in Austin the Shady Grove was one of our favorite places to eat. 15 years later, this place has not missed a beat. Still great food with a fantastic great outside atmosphere. This is a can't miss casual dining spot.

I've been going to Shady Grove since the early 90's. It's a true Austin restaurant - casual, best if seated outdoors, good food, good drinks, a great place to relax with friends on a nice night. Near perfection.

A large, absolutely delicious, chicken fried steak, tangy cole slaw, spicy black-eyed peas and a cold mug of Shiner Bock served by a delightful server under the stars and the canopy of a huge live oak! It doesn't get any better!!

I have never experienced a place quite like this. The location, the food, the waiter, the look of the place. Love at first sight. It is very laid-back and child-friendly. Cosy seating outside, with festoon lighting and a bathroom inside an airstream. The waiter looked like Matthew Mcconaughey. The food was delicious too :-) Go there.

This is a large eating establishment that has great service. Outdoor seating and great temperatures coincide here to make for a lovely visit. The food is Texan normal with servings large enough to share and not shy of flavor. If you don't mind the buzz of the roadway in the air and nature joining you to eat this is a... More

We drove past this place many times during the day and there were always people outside. When dinner time came, we decided to go back and try it. It was a gorgeous evening, weatherwise. We chose to eat outside. It was noisy as there were alot of people having an after work drink. The food was excellent. My husband had... More

We went to Shady Grove based on a recommendation by a local friend, and we had an excellent meal. It was recommended to try the green chili, so I had the green chili burrito with rice. They were both yummy. Just the right amount of spice. I also tried to jalapeno coleslaw and it was good (and interesting). The frozen... More
