Description: A passion for friendship, food and wine fed the genesis of Jeffrey's. It continues to endure today. The restaurant first took shape in 1975 when Jeffrey Weinberger and Ron and Peggy Weiss, friends from student days at the University of Texas, pooled their interests, talents, and enthusiasm with three other pals to open an intimate neighborhood bistro in Austin, such as they had encountered in their travels. They were part of the first wave of new American cuisine, and over the years they made their mark with an original flair that is unmistakably Jeffrey's alone. Chef Deegan McClung is known for accenting regional flavors and ingredients with European recipes and techniques in order to create a unique cosmopolitan style.

Lets start with the bad news- it is possible to drop major money at Jeffrey's. if you're wanting a quiet and unhurried meal without the middle class disrupting your vision(except for the special occasion celebrator like me), you're in the right place. The good news is that if you want food you'll be talking about for days, with attentive service... More

In terms of an Austin atmosphere, this isn't hipsters, with short brim hats and such. It's the upscale version of Austin so to speak. It's not full of hipsters, but you will see the hip Austin professional dinning at Jeffrey's or hanging out enjoying cocktails. The staff is professional, and they pay attention to style, manners, and service. It's very... More

This place always has a happening bar, so since it was F1 Sunday, I called to make a 6:00 reservation. I did not expect to be told all tables were reserved. We went anyway expecting to sit in the restaurant. When we arrived, I did not expect the valets to be dressed in a pink sear sucker shorts outfit. Nor... More

They have a beverage cart that comes by and makes martini's or old fashioned tableside. Excellent steak, pomme puree, brussel sprouts, and a wonderful chocolate soufflé for dessert.

I used to go to Jeffrey's back in the early '80s. When I called the concierge at our hotel I asked if Jefffrey's was still one of the restaurants to visit. Yes, yes, it is. The food was outstanding. My pan fried grouper over clam chowder with gnocchi was fabulous. My husband and our friend had the seafood risotto and... More

Overall the best meal I can have in Austin, balancing the atmosphere, service and quality of food. I think people get confused in saying it's too expensive...you get what you pay for. I have had dozens of meals in Austin where I might pay only $15 less than at Jeffrey's, for a much lower grade of food, service, etc. Is... More

We're from Dallas but had heard about Jeffrey's so we were excited to give it a try with friends. The food and service was truly exceptional and, while I don't want to do this more than once or twice a year, I didn't mind (too much) paying $150 per person. Picking a wine WAS tough but we found an excellent... More

This review only concerns happy hour. All appetizers were 1/2 price and drinks were discounted. We ordered a variety of dishes and our favorites were the fried oysters, a warm spinach salad with bacon and potatoes and a wonderful hot and puffy perfectly prepared souffle. We will skip the prosciutto and melon next time, not that there was anything wrong it... More

All I can say is no matter how incredible the food, to be forced to spend $100 plus for a bottle of wine to enjoy with your meal reveals a lack of consideration for the savvy diner who knows wine, knows value, and would like to select their own expensive wine rather than rely on someone else's list. Anyone (almost)... More

Cheapest California Cabernet $92. What a rip. Great ambiance and service. Food super expensive but good. Prices turned me off and kind of ruined the experience.
