A passion for friendship, food and wine fed the genesis of Jeffrey's. It continues to endure today. The restaurant first took shape in 1975 when Jeffrey Weinberger and Ron and Peggy Weiss, friends from student days at the University of Texas, pooled their interests, talents, and enthusiasm with three other pals to open an intimate neighborhood bistro in Austin, such as they had encountered in their travels. They were part of the first wave of new American cuisine, and over the years they
made their mark with an original flair that is unmistakably Jeffrey's alone. Chef Deegan McClung is known for accenting regional flavors and ingredients with European recipes and techniques in order to create a unique cosmopolitan style.

Among Austin's best

Enjoyed many dinners at Jeffrey's over the years, traveling to Austin on business or, on one occasion, celebrating my daughter's college graduation. The menu has varied - I recall enjoying their Caesar Salad, duck confit, and lamb chops. The bar is great - warm comfortable atmosphere, selection of... read more

Maybe I went in expecting too much. Regardless, I left the entire experience underwhelmed with just about everything. Given the explosion of the restaurant scene in Austin, there is little desire to return to places that are just a bit below average. Good marks for our server (Bev) who was cheerful, attentive, and knowledgable. She also was training the busser... More

Not much to say except the food and the service were outstanding. However this comes at a price. We had drinks and a couple of reasonably priced bottles of wine and the bill ran about $150 per person. So, I would recommend going at least wants to enjoy the experience but be prepared to pay for it. Four of us... More

I had just arrived in Austin. It was too early for dinner, but we missed the snacks of early afternoon so we ordered a glass of wine each and the lovely staff brought us a basket of the most amazing breads! I hadn't seen my daughter in quite some time and it was a sweet way to catch up. We... More

I love this restaurant for the un-snobby fine dining experience and the classy waitstaff. The duck breast was so good I thought I might start crying tears of joy, and the waitstaff were friendly, charming, and classy. This is a GREAT date spot!

We love to eat in the bar area where they serve fabulous cocktails, have a great wine list, and a really good bar food menu.

Cozy, small, comfortable.everything was delicious. Muscvy Duck and fresh redfish entrees were well prepared. Expert, informed waitstaff, friendly without being obtrusive.Large wine list. reservations recommended, but call just in case. Valet parking is good since located in a residential neighborhood.

Dear ms mg, Thank you for reviewing your recent experience here at Jeffrey's. I very much appreciate your kind words regarding the food as well as our attentive and informed staff. I agree, the complimentary valet is a must in at a neighborhood restaurant in a residential area. It takes away the stress of finding those parking spaces! We hope... More

For our last night in Austin, we asked the Four Seasons for the best and they put us on to Jeffrey's. Not always available, the restaurant sent a complimentary car to pick us up and deliver us back to the hotel. Every dish was great, the wine and drinks matched and the service was superb. I had a veal chop... More

We visited Jeffrey's Restaurant for the first time with my daughter and her boyfriend, who both live in Austin. This wonderful restaurant exceeds all expectations. The room is beautiful, chic and inviting. One expects the service to be fantastic, but this staff walks that tricky line between perfectly professional and friendly along with that wonderful Texas warmth better than anyone.... More
