Description: A passion for friendship, food and wine fed the genesis of Jeffrey's. It continues to endure today. The restaurant first took shape in 1975 when Jeffrey Weinberger and Ron and Peggy Weiss, friends from student days at the University of Texas, pooled their interests, talents, and enthusiasm with three other pals to open an intimate neighborhood bistro in Austin, such as they had encountered in their travels. They were part of the first wave of new American cuisine, and over the years they made their mark with an original flair that is unmistakably Jeffrey's alone. Chef Deegan McClung is known for accenting regional flavors and ingredients with European recipes and techniques in order to create a unique cosmopolitan style.

This review only concerns happy hour. All appetizers were 1/2 price and drinks were discounted. We ordered a variety of dishes and our favorites were the fried oysters, a warm spinach salad with bacon and potatoes and a wonderful hot and puffy perfectly prepared souffle. We will skip the prosciutto and melon next time, not that there was anything wrong it... More

All I can say is no matter how incredible the food, to be forced to spend $100 plus for a bottle of wine to enjoy with your meal reveals a lack of consideration for the savvy diner who knows wine, knows value, and would like to select their own expensive wine rather than rely on someone else's list. Anyone (almost)... More

Cheapest California Cabernet $92. What a rip. Great ambiance and service. Food super expensive but good. Prices turned me off and kind of ruined the experience.

Love the new look and feel, but the menu is trying too hard. Half the dishes were great, half were very disappointing, almost as if there were two chefs in the kitchen. And it's not cheap. Service was first rate.

My husband and I ventured to Jeffrey's after finding Uchiko had a 45 minute wait at 5:30 on a MONDAY! Good thing we did. The bar was empty! Great music on, great table, great service and it was HAPPY HOUR all night. Small discount on the drinks, but all the bar food was ½ off!! And.. you can order from... More

The food and service were excellent. The steak I had was absolutely magnificent. The wine list is very expensive and overall the entire meal cost a small fortune. Three of us paid $420 with only one bottle of wine. OK if you're on a corporate expense account or for a special occasion once every blue moon.

My friend, Marianne, and I sat at the bar and were waited on by two people. A guy, whose name I did not get, who was superb, and a woman, Abby, who may have been the best bartender/person I've had the pleasure of meeting. She took care of both of us as if we were her kids. We're old enough... More

Tennis/country club, goes moderne here, with no pretention. In a residential area named Clarksville, in Austin, lies an institution of excellent food, wine and service. Pink tennis outfitted valets greet you to park your car, how lovely! A fabulous bar for a classic martini and other cocktails if your on a first date, by the way. But let's get to... More

I really cannot say enough positive things about this place. We've been here several times now, and the experience is always exceptional. I'm a stickler for atmosphere and service (at high end places), and I have to say the atmosphere here is simultaneously swanky and sexy, while still managing a low key, welcoming vibe. That's tough to pull off! And... More

Jeffrey's has been a longtime favorite for Austinites for special occasions and making memories. We were looking forward to seeing the new menu and trying the "new" Jeffrey's. First of all, the seating is not great. This is supposedly fine dining and it felt more like a train car. Our table backed up to a half wall with the hostess... More
