Nice Pizza Place Downtown

This is a tiny restaurant in downtown Austin with a small dining space making it a trendy place to go to. It gets super loud but it does have a nice atmosphere. Pizzas are a little larger than personal size. Thin crust and very flavorful but the oven was a little too hot that night and burned the... read more

I had not been to Backspace for sometime. My last few trips to Austin were just too hectic. I was comforted to fond the food and service just as excellent as ever. I ordered the roasted okra, a salad, and a roasted mushroom pizza. All were incredible, and would have recommended the restaurant on their own. Highest recommendation. I always... More

The Backspace truly started it's life as the back space of the Parkside restaurant that resides on 6th Street. Small in stature but "large and in charge" of great wood fired pizza! Every pizza I've had there is great - everything I've had there is great. The arugala pizza is one of my fav's cause it's different and fresh and... More

There is a 75-minute limit for dining because the restaurant is so small. Guests are made to feel they shouldn't even walk in if they hadn't made a reservation. We had lamb and pork meatballs and three different types of pizza. Meatballs were way too salty and the pizza just okay. The dough is better than sauce or cheese. I... More

We had the meatballs which were very good and the spicy cauliflower. We also had 3 of there pizzas and all were really good done in the fire oven. They have a happy hour which was nice also. Get there early it is small and space is limited.

Fresh ingredients, great service, incredible crust, and a real wood-fired brick oven. This place is an absolute treat.

We had several glasses of Lambrusco. It was tasty and reasonably priced. Out appetizers were excellent and consisted of brussel sprouts and bruschetta. The bruschetta had a lard and fresh toppings on a soft bread--out of this world. The pizzas were simple and delicious. I will return.

An authentic Italian meal. Smallish establishment. Felt like I was in Grandma's kitchen. Menu was limited but delectable. Waitstaff was attentive and helpful. Would definitely go back. Oh wait, I did!
