A delightful fine dining and unpretentious experience in Austin!

My husband and I travel regularly and as foodies from Portland, we think we are very spoiled with the fantastic restaurants in our hometown. We went to visit Barley Swine while in Austin for an anniversary dinner. We were initially worried that we were under-dressed since we came from the Barton Springs Pool, but a quick call assured us that... More

I was in town on business and wanted to go to a place that was not in the downtown area with all the tourists and college kids. Barley Swine was perfect. Food = I did the happy hour menu and was very happy with the options. The portions were perfect size so I could sample multiple plates without getting full.... More

multi course meal, with each step an adventure in high culinary art. serving sizes are small, but there are many of them. wait staff does a good job explaining what each course is. there is an option to pair each food course with wine, too.

We've been dining at Barley Swine since they first came on the Austin restaurant scene and have never been disappointed dining there. We are always excited and intrigued to see what the Cullinary team has dreamed up using local ingredients. Service is always excellent and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable.

One of the best meals of my life, I am not exaggerating. Earned a lot of brownie points with the boss(wife). No kidding, I've had gourmet vegetarian at Michelin star restaurants in Europe and the food there was not half as tasty at double the price. Going in, I was skeptical; especially as most gourmet places are pretentious and you... More

Prepare to indulge in a creative 13-course eating extravaganza! This smallish restaurant with tall communal tables packs a punch when it comes to creative dining. Each course was perfectly timed and the freshness and quality of the food was outstanding. The wine list was also really impressive and the staff were friendly and accommodating. My only suggestion is that the... More

My sister and I were visiting Austin on vacation and decided to splurge on dinner at Barley Swine - it was one of the highlights of our trip! It's a leisurely dining experience comprised of 13 small courses served over about a 2 1/2 hour period. We got an early reservation and paired the courses with alcohol (champagne, wine and... More

This place is fantastic! They give the option for an extra charge to serve each course with a drink. Unlike most tasting menus, Barley Swine will pair other drinks like local beers and cocktails, other than just the standard wine, which is also great. Maybe one of the best meals of my life!
