Last year we lucky enough to be first in line without a reservation. Since I am a fish eating vegetarian they were kind enough to accommodate me. Everyone else eats meat. This year we had a reservation and were able to give the kitchen a heads up. Wow! After each dish, we all thought it would be the best of... More

I was thrilled to get seated at the bar tonight, overlooking the kitchen . Watching these culinary gurus preparing our meal was inspiring. I love the tasting menu concept. We went for the full tasting with the bonus dish paired with an eclectic variety of wines, beer and cocktails. The courses were paced nicely and the portions left us full... More

I love the concept of this place and love to be adventurous with my food so I was really excited when we chose to eat here. However, I wasn't overly impressed with the food. It was good but not worth the $250 bill (including drinks and tip) for me and my wife. My main objection to most of the dishes... More

My wife and I went for dinner there for the first and was originally suprised at how small the dishes were, though after the first bite we could not wait for the next dish. By the time the dishes stopped I could barely walk. Each dish offers a new type of amazing unique flavor. Go here sit back and enjoy.

We are foodies. When we travel, we let our taste buds lead the way. My husband and I agreed this was one of the best meals we've had in years, and that is truly high praise. Inventive, truly reasonably priced for the type of meal this is, and like nothing else we've ever tried. The wine and beer lists have... More

Tiny, traditional Austin house~ now wine beer pub restaurant extraordinaire~ Barley Swine, has a prix~fixe menu unlike any experience we have had throughout our lives and world. The loving enthusiastic and accomplished souls, hearts, taste buds and dreams of cosmic cuisine of the ensemble of perhaps seven chefs created an unforgettable experience of life, nature, regional market possibilities, experimentation, kitchen... This is a fixed price tasting menu with some things that I'd never imagined, but were very good. After 13 or 14 of the small plates, I lost track of everything that I'd eaten, but almost all were wonderful. There were a few that weren't quite to my taste. If you want to splurge, for $45 a person, you can... More

The food was excellent! The restaurant has shared tables, so you will be seated next to strangers or at the bar - unless you are with a large group. Just know that in advance so you aren't surprised. Otherwise everything is fabulous!

One of the best dining experiences we have had anywhere in the world. Note, however, that the price range quoted above of $30-50 is incorrect. On our Sept. 3, 2014 visit they offered a chef's tasting menu of 14 dishes for $75/pp. And it was well worth it. They inquire about allergies before seating you. If you are a picky... More

This place is TINY, so call ahead or expect to wait! There's a chance you will be sharing a table with other people, unless you arrive as a big party. Food is small portioned and meant to be shared. It's pricey, but its excellent!
