Very special dining experienc

The chefs and staff at Barley Swine take a great deal of pride in what they do. This is not a place you would go if you want to get stuffed (and there are times when that’s what I want). I love barbeque, good hamburgers, lots of downhome food. I also love Barley Swine. You would go there for a... read more

Not often do we get to enjoy dining with culinary experts who work at their craft and then go out and enjoy watching their friends in the biz do their thing for them as customers and friends, too. We enjoyed probably our own last visit to the South Lamar location before the store move to the new location on Burnet... More

Food was good, but do you want to pay 100 $ (with 2 beer) per person for a super mini dinner and you are not even close to full! The owner and chef is laughing about those who are paying him a lot of money for a tiny tiny super tiny dinner!!! There are much more better restaurants with a... More

At the suggestion of a friend, my wife made reservations at Barley Swine. She knew the place was somewhat pricey but we are always seeking out new dining experiences in ATX. To get to the point: It is a fixed price tasting menu, and that is all you get of the 13 'tastings' they bring to you. Tastings is the... More

THis place was so good that I actually made a point of finding it again after 2 years. Unique menu and great beverage offerings. Close to downtown and walking distance from the waterfront.

This is unique jewel in the midst of many shining stars of restaurants in Austin. The service is extraordinary, the food is unique, flavorful, varied and amazing. Definitely worth the time and a value considering the quality. Great ambiance and music as well. Wine list is extensive and they are there to help you choose along the way. A+

Barley Swine rates 5 stars as the best restaurant in Austin. The restaurant is in a small, cozy setting that requires reservations - and from the first bite to the last - it's well worth it. Each evening is a new menu with creative pairings of spices, meats and sauces all rolled into one exquisite bite. If you live in... More

I went on a Monday at 5:30 (when they open) and didn't have a reservation. Got right in. Beer and wine selection was excellent. We were originally there for happy hour and snacks but ended up having the tasting menu. Our waiters all knew every detail of each dish. They had a beer and wine pairing with each course that... The food was excellent. However the tight seating did not accommodate many people and I felt that we didn't have any privacy.

This restaurant was wonderful. There was such attention to detail in every serving. It is a price fixed menu and an optional wine pairing. It was nice to do both --then there were no decisions to make. It was an awesome dining experience and dinner. I can't wait to go back! Reservations must be made early--don't wait until the last...
