Historic downtown establishment with fine dining options

Hotel with a popular bar and restaurant attached. The Grill features a limited but tastefully constructed menu that changes daily. Upscale place, but as far as I could tell there wasn't a set dress code. We both tried the fish dish with salad. Both were great. Pretty big bill, but it's a great... read more

Terrible service, not accommodating, not worth visiting with so many other amazing places with terrific food and service in Austin. The story: My sister wanted to treat me to a nice meal at the Driskill during our visit to Austin. She's a UT Austin alum and showed me around town before suggesting the Driskill. She knows I'm a foodie and... More

Pretty big bill, but it's a great place for celebrating an anniversary or birthday.

The food is fantastic and it comes with a great experience inside an Austin, Texas, landmark. Drinks by the bar are fun, too. Enjoy it. Definitely a place to remember.

Elegant dining room with great service and awesome food. The bar area is vibrant and busy. The two are separated by glass doors. The wine list is large and traditional cocktails were amazing. The menu changes daily. Everything thing is fresh and has a slightly Austin twist to it. We had a large group and plated steaks, amberjack, pork chops,... More

This restaurant and the adjoining bar exude old school luxury. From the custom carpeting to the beautiful dark wood paneling and tin (looking at least) ceilings to the art pieces and the whimsical touches - you know you are in for an experience. So glad to see such care and attention to detail in such a marvelous place. You can... More

Would definitely go back. Solid meal, historic setting. We had the lamb which was really well cooked and not too expensive. Their beef looked really good as well. Kind of a dark restaurant, but nice for a romantic dinner for a special evening.

Staying at the hotel so we decided to try the 1886 grill for brunch. Superb, friendly service and excellent food. The Huevos Rancheros was the best I've ever had… served in a cast iron casserole with tortillas between the levels. Perfect! Nice selection of teas, well-served. And enjoyed the windows into the kitchen, watching the chefs prepare the meals. You... More

It was almost everything I wanted. The only thing that surprised me was how limited the menu was. I was expecting a few more choices. We both ended up having the Delmonico steak and it was really was as sublime as I expected a properly cooked steak in a legendary Texas restaurant to be. The staff were so sweet &... More

I visited mid-morning, so no wait. Best Eggs Benedict I've ever enjoyed. Server Eric was efficient & friendly. Hostess was charming.
