Hubby and I went to the Driskill Grill for happy hour. It's what you want a classic Texas hotel to look like...steer heads mounted on the walls, copper ceiling, leather, etc. Drinks were very tasty and service was pretty good, considering it was a packed house and there seemed to be only two servers on the floor. We shared the... More

Beautiful period room. Gracious servers who make everything perfect. Excellent choices ... antelope, braised bacon, wild boar with a very (not sweet) root beer braise and sauce. Very enjoyable evening.

Because the downstairs restaurant is under renovation, we were forced to meet our friends at the grill, upstairs. My breakfast with eggs and bacon was good but the two who ordered the goat cheese salad were not happy. My daughter who ordered the turkey sandwich was most unhappy so left the entire sandwich on the plate, uneaten. Won't meet our... More

The menu is rather short and obviously points a customer toward ordering the 5 course or the 7 course meal. After ordering the 5 course meal, the salad was super with heirloom tomatoes, but the 2 entrees were more like tiny portions that were fixed very well, but hardly worth the price. The blackened snapper consisted of a piece of... More

I love the Driskill. The hotel and the bar area is such a fun spot to visit. That said, brunch here was very blah. The menu items were very normal. All of which I could've gotten at a diner. Nothing special. Drinks were cheap though which is worth something. But service was crazy slow. We were a group of 14... More

The food is suburb, but more than that, the hotel is a landmark. Leave yourself plenty of time for drinks in the lobby of the original hotel (not the "new" portion added about 100 years ago).

My boyfriend and I came here for our last dinner in Austin and to have a romantic evening out. First off I will say the place is beautiful!! I did love the atmosphere so I was excited about that. However, absolutely not worth the amount of money we spent on that dinner! We spent $300 on dinner and I was... More

This is our "special event" restaurant, where we go for a leisurely, delicious dinner. The service is impeccable - never intrusive, always attentive. The wine list is extensive, and excellent. The ambiance is in keeping with the understated elegance of the hotel. And the food is always superb. We usually order the chef's special of the day, and have never... More

We toured the beautiful lobby and then had great Texas pecan pie in the grille. Great place for a quiet after dinner dessert. Beautiful location, great coffee. Fun to go back to a luxurious history. Definitely will return.

Ate lunch in this iconic hotel. The burger, goat cheese salad and the crab salad were delicious. The decor is very old Texas. The service was great. We even got to talk to the chef about the food and restaurant. Very nice experience.
