First of all, the dining room at Congress is serene and beautiful. However, the chairs are RIDICULOUSLY heavy and without a lot of effort, it's nearly impossible to leave the table. Since the prix fixe menu was not to everyone's liking, we decided to order off the menu and were not disappointed. The appetizer(s) were very simple, but the ingredients... More

Given South Congress Cafe is located in a very touristy area I was surprised how good the food tasted. I had the seafood risotto which was seasoned just right. There were 4 of us and the other meals were good. We had made reservations and were seated as soon as we arrived. The waiter was very attentive and helpful. Enjoyed... More

This was such an elegant and wonderful restaurant. We really enjoyed our dining experience. And it IS an experience--our dinner took about three hours and all we had were small plates and entrees, no desserts or intermediate courses. Still, it was wonderful. The artisan cocktails were wonderful and all the food was great. Loved the ambiance, too.

Don't even get started that this is fine dining so don't compare it to......... I have had my share of fine dining and congress was sub par. I was in a group of 4, thus ordering 4 three course menus aka, everything on the menu. PROS: The ambiance/environment/ was elegant. Service was top-notch (the waiter would've scratched my back if... We enjoyed the food as well as the atmosphere, the service was phenomenal. However, we walked away still hungry after eating every bit of a 5 course meal. I am 145 lbs, wife is 130 lbs...I am not an over eater. Also, everything was very rich...like overly so. I would have rather had a 2 course meal with more on... More

The congress is a great place with a restaurant, bar and outside caffe called 2nd Kitchen. I enjoyed a lovely Carrot Gaspacho and Kale, Quinoa and Shrimp salad with a (ok, two) lovely glass of Rosè Cremant d'Alsace. It was a delightful sunny day so couldn't think of a better way to spend my Sunday afternoon. The staff are friendly... More

The chef is one of the finest, anywhere, period. He keeps his menu fresh, his imagination sharp and knows how to balance flavors perfectly. Trust him. Chef Bull has managed to choose a staff that is as notable as himself.....and the atmosphere is terrific. I could keep gushing, but just make reservations and go eat there....treat your palate!

Chef David Bull brings it! What a well oiled machine he has at Congress. With it's great location In the heart of tres cool Austin, you are greeted from the friendly hostess as she leads you to the table. The room is not large and decorations are sparse and elegant. Immediately, someone is there to take a drink order and... More

First of all, our waitstaff was perfect. We wanted a crisp glass of prosecco which wasn't too dry...this wasn't an option on the regular menu, but we were offered a great glass of Bocelli from next door. The servings were a perfect size and allowed us to enjoy dessert without feeling miserable. Even though the "foam" preparation is a little... More

This was a gourmet four course meal. Our waiter was from Australia and he was very good. I had goat tenderloin and key lime pie. It was a wonderful finish from a West Texas visit.
