Famous fusion but pricey, small portions

We dined at Uchinko, Austin Sat night. We are sushi fans and have had great sushi many places. Overall we were disappointed the menu was so limited on true sushi items. This is more of a high-end fusion place. We dropped $50 per person and tried over half the sushi items. I do like the... read more

I have eaten sushi in every major city in the US and lived in Japan so I think I know good sushi, and this is not only the best I've had in the US, but competes with the sushi restaurants in Japan! It was well worth the hour-long wait...which didn't seem that bad since they had cocktail service and snacks... More

Best sushi ever. EVER! It was the best meal I've had in a long time. Everything we ordered was amazing! The avofry, big eyed tuna, bluefin, yellowtail - everything! Order the specials you'll love it. Fro sake, order dreamy clouds. It is an amazing drink - slightly dry and not too sweet. But, expensive. We wanted to celebrate Valentine's here... More

Eaten all over the world and have pretty high standards for Japanese being from Sydney Australia but being in USA over a week I just needed my sashimi and sushi fix!!! We were lucky to snag a table last minute at 5pm as were visiting Austin for 2 nights only. We chose the sushi bar which typically I don't like... More

Ate at the Bar and had a delicious soup and broiled Saba with two glasses of wine. The wine was expensive but the food was very tasty. The restaurant is very busy and only the bar and sushi bar were available at 9PM on a Wednesday night!

Family emergency brought me to Seton Hospital, just blocks away. Having been in the hospital/dreadful atmosphere from morning to evening, had to find something gourmet and lively. Looked up and saw that this joint is so close by. On a Monday night, this place is hopping & the atmosphere I was looking for. Wanted to be seated at the sushi... More

My favorite Austin restaurant! The ten course chef's tasting is a must. Some of my favorites are the live dayboat scallop, sea bream, jar jar duck, on and on. Few sushi restaurants have the breadth of flavors and options like Uchiko. Here's to many, many more successful years!

My wife, daughter and I ate here in January 2015. It was truly excellent. The food is inventive and very well prepared, the service first class and the presentation subtle and elegant. We tried a variety of dishes, one or two from each of the menu's main categories: sushi, meat (that we cooked at the table, on a hot rock),... More

If you like Sushi, be sure to try this place, you will not be disappointed. The menu is varied and had many interesting choices. We started with drinks and had unfiltered sake ( a first experience for me and it was very good) and then had edamame and some other appetizers. We ordered a number of sushi items, each one... More

My colleagues and I dropped in just to get out of traffic. We were not sushi connoisseurs so the waiter had his work cut out for him. Everything was great and I would highly recommend it.
