We are proud to announce... Chef Tyson Cole, winner of the 2011 James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef Southwest--Thank you Uchi and Uchiko family and friends for your support! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Uchiko, translated as "child of Uchi" from Japanese, is the next restaurant venture for renowned executive chef and sushi master Tyson Cole. Located in central Austin, this second location of Cole’s highly-praised Uchi presents the same excellence and energetic atmosphere of the original with some noteworthy additions. Uchiko will feature a new menu with Uchi’s same style of innovative, fresh cuisine, a main dining room that accepts reservations throughout the evening and an eat-in bar/café area.

I was celebrating my birthday and introducing someone to Uchiko. I was so excited for both. Unfortunately I was disappointed by the service we received. This may be due to my expectation of the same wonderful (knowledgeable) service I received less that a year before.....but honestly, that was 50% of the reason I returned....I value knowledge in waitstaff for menus/menu... Do you like sushi? You will not be disappointed. The sushi is first rate--the best quality seaweed I have ever had in the United States. But all food on a very creative menu was also great, and the wine list was impressive and paired well with the food. Additionally, the decor and ambiance were very clean, modern and fun. The... Uchiko…is a special place..to go for special occasions as the pricing can put a dent in your wallet very easily. The food is amazing and if you like sushi put together in a way that delights the senses…then you must go. Make sure you get the JarJar Duck!!! Amazing smoking duck…with herbs and spices…man oh man…it is great!!!

I'm in a gourmet restaurant club and we visit the best rated restaurants in Austin. One of the very best meals I've ever had in Austin was at Uchiko. We had about 8 different dinners and shared them all. All were outstanding. I cannot recommend a restaurant in Austin more highly.

I have been to both Uchi and Uchiko and overall the experiences at both restaurants were very similar. Both offered delicious and inventive sushi and great service. Uchiko is known as the less expensive sister restaurant to Uchi, but I found the pricing to be nearly the same. The food was similar in style and quality but they did feature... More

I'm rating Uchiko on their nigiri alone, as that's all I had in my two visits to the restaurant. Between these two visits, I've only had 10 pieces of nigiri, the small number of bites being due to the exorbitant and frankly unfounded prices of their tsukiji fish market selections. However, Uchiko and Uchi are the only places I know... More

The food was creative and largely good. The atmosphere pleasant and not too loud. The portions, I thought, were pretty small. There always seems to be a correlation between price and quantity ie as the price goes up the quantity goes down. Don't expect to get your normal sushi favorites here because you won't find them.

We had supper here for eight people. Four adults, two 13 year olds and two 16 year olds. We had a private room which we had not pre ordered but it was a lovely surprise. The food here is truly beautiful to look at and equisite to taste. Every single thing we ordered was unique. The fish tasted fresh and... More

First off, staff was wonderful. No complaints there. Unfortunately, though, our table was not ready for some time after our reservation. However, this is not necessarily anyone's fault. Just something to point out, because this lead to... ...the bar. This was disappointing. No liquors are really stocked. Beer, wine, sake is about it. Nikka, Yamazaki, etc. are just two names that...
