We are proud to announce... Chef Tyson Cole, winner of the 2011 James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef Southwest--Thank you Uchi and Uchiko family and friends for your support! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Uchiko, translated as "child of Uchi" from Japanese, is the next restaurant venture for renowned executive chef and sushi master Tyson Cole. Located in central Austin, this second location of Cole's highly-praised Uchi presents the same excellence and energetic atmosphere of the original with some noteworthy additions. Uchiko features a new menu with Uchi's same style of innovative and fresh cuisine, a main dining room that accepts reservations throughout the evening and an eat-in bar/café area.

Always good.

I Love sushi. They have fun ways to try to variety of dishes. All excellent. And the service, and willingness to assist with ordering, has been excellent the times I have been here.

We went for an anniversary dinner at Uchiko some months ago. The quality of sushi is definitely the best in Austin, I ordered maguro and it was the best I have ever eaten. Also the other dishes were beautifully presented and delicious. However, when you consider the cost of the sushi, it's about 3 - 5 times more expensive than... More

Outstanding sushi in a town with not many options. Always busy so make reservations or better yet show up early for happy hour and take advantage of the prices.

If I could give this place 10 green dots I would. Julie Andrews once sang "Let's start at the very beginning / It's a very good place to start" .... From the moment I walked into this restaurant, I was impressed. The decor and atmosphere was inviting and full of an energy that drew me in. Immediately I was greeted... More

I have been hearing about Uchiko for some time and finally decided to check out the happy hour which runs from 5pm to 630pm. There are some great deals to be had. The sake and Sapporo are a great deal. The food is also pretty great. The brussels sprouts are nicely done. The rolls are perfectly done. The avocado sushi... More

This was a first time experience and since we weren't sure what to order we decided to do the Chef's 10 course tasting menu. Food was...ok...although we were never asked about how anything was and we NEVER talked to a chef. We saw him come out of the kitchen delivering other dishes to tables, but never outs. This was the... More

This is one of those places you find any reason to go to. The menu changes enough to always be interesting. The food exploded with flavor in your mouth. Make sure you try whatever the wait staff recommends, they will never steer you wrong. Start with the brussel sprouts, even if you hate brussel sprouts. If you miss them you... More

First thing--make reservations. We arrived at 6:30 p.m. on a Friday, it was packed and people continued to stream in the entire time we were there. Second, the service was excellent, informative and friendly. Our waitress even brought us a second dessert to try, free of charge. However, there were a few issues. We ordered the chef's tasting menu and... More

They said there would be an hour an a half wait on the Monday night after Christmas at Uchiko in Austin - even at 9:00 pm - which seemed extraordinary. Aren't people still hanging at home trying to figure out how that gadget they got for the holidays works? Not in Austin and certain not at Uchiko. We actually did... More

I can't even begin to explain how amazing the food was, but even more was the company. The chef and staff were just splendid. Just a perfect day.
