We are proud to announce... Chef Tyson Cole, winner of the 2011 James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef Southwest--Thank you Uchi and Uchiko family and friends for your support! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Uchiko, translated as "child of Uchi" from Japanese, is the next restaurant venture for renowned executive chef and sushi master Tyson Cole. Located in central Austin, this second location of Cole's highly-praised Uchi presents the same excellence and energetic atmosphere of the original with some noteworthy additions. Uchiko features a new menu with Uchi's same style of innovative and fresh cuisine, a main dining room that accepts reservations throughout the evening and an eat-in bar/café area.

Family from all over met here to see if the glowing food bloggers were accurate. They were. The waiter guided us thru the menu. Each course had great taste and even better presentation.

We've been to both Uchi and Uchiko. The menu selection at Uchiko seems to be a lot less than the offerings at Uchi. Almost everything was overpriced. My Girlfriend and I spent over $80 dollars on 5 tiny dishes and 2 green teas and left still hungry. Plus, the waitstaff seemed to have forgotten some of our order. We sat... More

Order the edamame, don't miss the tuna with fuji apples or the lupe crudo but whatever you do.. order the fried milk. You're Welcome.

Creative, tailored Sushi. Perfectly prepared and arranged. Great for Vegans too! I went here with a work colleague who was vegetarian and raved about this place. She tells the chef what she does or doesn't eat or what sounds good and he creates a delicious dish! I love the brussel sprouts, beets and everything else that was brought to the... More

It was disappointing. I am not sure why but there were four of us and we sampled at least seven different dishes. The consensus was just ok.

Went to Uchiko for my birthday. Had the the 10 coarse meal and wow was I happy each and every time the next coarse came. From the beginning to the end it was all fantastic. It was a Saturday night and we had reservations and were seated promptly. The saki was very good. Otokoyama, great price. Our service was the... More

I know this is a very popular restaurant, especially with a certain upscale demographic, but I frankly found the food a little overrated, the cost is awfully steep (though, to be fair, it's not out of line with the current crop of upscale eateries in Austin) and frankly it's just a bit too "precious" to me. I also found it... More

We had an eight course meal with dessert. Each dish was quite flavorful but very salty and/or sweet. The fish dishes tasted fresh and were especially good. I would characterize the sushi as average both in appearance and flavor. They have a lot of people working on preparation and presentation which I suppose account for the high prices. The restaurant... More

We heard great things about Uchiko from several people. We originally tried to eat at Uchi but it was a 2 hr wait so we went here instead. Several menu items are the same at both restaurants so I didn't feel like I missed out. We sat at the sushi bar and had a fabulous time with our sushi chef.... More
