We are proud to announce... Chef Tyson Cole, winner of the 2011 James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef Southwest--Thank you Uchi and Uchiko family and friends for your support! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Uchiko, translated as "child of Uchi" from Japanese, is the next restaurant venture for renowned executive chef and sushi master Tyson Cole. Located in central Austin, this second location of Cole’s highly-praised Uchi presents the same excellence and energetic atmosphere of the original with some noteworthy additions. Fresh, fun and delicious!

We heard great things about Uchiko from several people. We originally tried to eat at Uchi but it was a 2 hr wait so we went here instead. Several menu items are the same at both restaurants so I didn't feel like I missed out. We sat at the sushi bar and had a fabulous time with our sushi... read more

I compare many of the places I go to popular items on menus. At Uchiko, we had the edamame as a snack and I can honestly say it was the best edamame I've ever had!

Five of us dined at Uchiko recently and it was fantastic for our entire party. The service was smooth and the food incredible. Oh my, the Jar Jar Duck...so delicious....and I'll be thinking about those flavors for a long time! We tried many items from sushi to fried eggplant to hot-rock beef to the fantastic, grilled edamame. The desserts were... More

It is sad when I run across this kind of restaurant. Buried way too deep in their name while disrespecting product and flavor. Our experience at Uchiko was one of the worst for "sushi". The combinations of flavors ruined any hope to taste the mediocre fish. Plates seemed to be built by a some blind roll of the dice. Fried... More

Uchiko was excellent. One of the best restaurants I have been to in any city in the past year. The way the chefs mixes flavors is very rare and unique. The fish tasted fresher than some of the sushi you get in Hawaii. I was pretty impressed by this restaurant and i live in San Francisco with wonderful places to... More

I was indeed expecting to find something similar to many reviews I've read about the Uchiko. However, my deception has begun from the moment I have got to the restaurant up to our leaving. Extremely expensive to a Japanese restaurant that told us in a Friday night that they had no shrimp to make us a nigiri or any shrimp... More

My husband and I go Uchiko for Happy Hour frequently. It's hip and cozy with very good service. We always enjoy the drinks, the food and the ambiance. Food is tapa style and the servers bring one or two small plates at a time. I would go for their Happy Hour because prices are excellent. It's from 5pm - 6:30... More

Just recently ate at Uchiko and the food made my taste buds soar. We didn't have a reservation but they do take walk ins and so we arrived at 455pm (restaurant opens at 5pm) and we were able to get to sit at the Sushi Bar. Sushi Chef Charlie was just sublime. We couldn't decide between the 10 course vs... More

I was celebrating my birthday and introducing someone to Uchiko. I was so excited for both. Unfortunately I was disappointed by the service we received. This may be due to my expectation of the same wonderful (knowledgeable) service I received less that a year before.....but honestly, that was 50% of the reason I returned....I value knowledge in waitstaff for menus/menu...
