There is a reason why Obama had to cut in line

This is excellent barbeque, and lives up to its hype. Obviously the line is long, and it is long all day. If you cannot wait a couple of hours, there are good alternatives in the city though.

If you are a BBQ Connoisseur, then the wait is worth it. We dropped my husband off at 7:00am (Thursday, 2 days before the 4th of July) to get in line which was already at back of the building. He finally emerge from the restaurant at 12:45pm (that's right over 5 hours later) with the BBQ goodness. The brisket was... More

We showed up late after the restaurant was officially closed. Actually this turned out to be a good thing as along with what we ordered we got some free sausages, beans and cake! There was a short line but it was well worth it. The brisket was the best we've ever had. Would definitely go back!

Worth the wait. Spent almost 5 hours in line, but the experience was fun and the food was amazing. Easily the best BBQ I've ever had. Just bring some lawn chairs and a cooler with cold beer and snacks. Treat the wait like a tailgate and get to know your neighbors. You'll have a blast and work up an appetite.... More

We never got to eat here which is a big bummer. Everyone describes this place as the absolutely best BBQ in the entire world-even locals. We took a cab there from our hotel on Monday only to discover the restaurant closed. The cab driver had already left so we were stuck there and had to take another one back. Then,... More

Was in Austin for a conference. Thought we'd get some bar b que. We heard of Franklin Barbeque and the 3 hour wait so we gave it a try. Best decision ever even with the 3.5 hour wait. I had the best brisket ever.

Our work place orders once a month a large quantity of brisket to bring back and make sandwiches here in the office. Tender and good flavor. I live in the hill country northwest of Austin and there are better BBQ places however for downtown Austin area, this is the place to go. 3-1/2 star rating.

This place is more and more hyped to the point that it has become close to impossible to go there without seriously planning for it. Long waits and after all the effort you often get greeted with a "no more meat XYZ". Since Obama visited it in 2014, I think it has possibly even gotten worse. This said, if you... More

Husband and son got up early and went to Franklin's Barbecue for the best barbecue ever. The wait was 6 hours long but the employee from Franklin's make the wait pleasant. The employees let the people waiting sample the pulled pork and keep you up to date on the items that have run out. Would we do it again? Yes...as... More

More than worth the wait. Simply amazing! The ribs melted in my mouth and the brisket was heaven on a pice of butcher paper!
