Prepare for a meat coma!

My son attends UT and has always wanted to go to Franklins. We picked a winter day so it would be cooler while we waited, plus had another event to attend in Austin. We drove in from Houston/Cypress and met our son about 7:45am on a Sunday and there was already ~30 people in line. By 9am, there... read more

BBQ is OK but honestly, can anything taste good when have to wait 2-3hrs in the heat or cold? The answer is, the food is not THAT good for this type of wait. Have tried a few BBQ in Austin and there is nothing here that screams this is a must go

First timer based on the TA reviews... Waited 40 minutes in 37 degree weather, mostly inside. Well worth it. We got the Briskett Sandwich and it was the best ever, moist and flavorable. Sides were great as was the Pecan Pie and the country western music! Ambiance, service and food all FIVE SPOONS!!!!!!

Franklin was one of the sponsors of our event (Come and Shave It #9 Weekend, a major annual beard/moustache competition) and they did wonderful combination plates for us attendees with several (5?) different meats and (4?) sides. Their BBQ makes it obvious why they're so famous, and we truly didn't feel it necessary to add ANY of the (four?) sauces... More

My son and I took a road trip from Dallas to see some UT basketball and to experience the Franklin BBQ event. Not knowing what to expect, we got there at 9:15. When we turned the corner on 11th street we didn't see any line and got prematurely happy. Upon getting closer, there were about 100 people lined up on... More

I've read a lot about how waiting for 4-5 hours is part of the experience, but I simply hired someone on Task Rabbit to get in line at 6am and deliver all the BBQ I wanted to my hotel by noon. Still taste great, and was able to do stuff before and after eating Franklin BBQ without devoting an entire... More

I have heard about Franklin's bbq and could not believe people were waiting in line for 4+ hours for bbq. Decided I was going to see what the hype was about and everybody said get there early between 5 - 8am. So I got there at 8am and it was already 30 people in line. I had my chair and... More

I was in Austin for work and my hotel was a few blocks from Franklin so I dropped bags and at the hotel and got in line at 11am. I wanted to see what the hype was all about. People on line were about 60% out of town, the rest from the Austin area. The staff came out and said... More

Be sure to arrive early and bring a chair, some coffee, and good company because you will probably wait around three to four hours. However, with that said, it is some of the best BBQ you'll ever have. My ribs literally slid off the bone they were so tender and full of flavor.

While traveling from Dallas to San Antonio we stopped for lunch, but was not aware of the line. They told us it was our lucky day. The line was only one hour long. They said the line is sometimes 4 hours long. Some hire people on Craigslist to to wait it out. Well for us it was worth the wait.... More
