We got in line at 0900 and didn't eat until 1:15 but as soon as we were chowing down those 4 hours were quickly forgotten. Probably the best BBQ I have ever had. Salt Lick a close second. Food was better than Salt Lick but Salt Lick has some different qualities that I really liked. Anyway, that's another review for... More

We hemmed and hawed over whether almost an entire day of our 3-day trip to Austin should be spent waiting in line for BBQ. We decided to go for it. Arrived at 8:15 a.m. on a Friday, waited 5 hours 44 minutes. The waiting part is part of the experience. We met some awesome people in line, drank mimosas in... More

Have been to this bbq "dive" since it opened and loved the concept. This is by far one of the best bbq in an area where bbq is found far and wide from Austin. It rivals some of the best. It is not easy if one is not willing to wait for hours in advance of opening. I was there... More

My husband and I went to Franklins right after we got off the airplane. We weren't guaranteed food, being that we got there at noon, but we stood in line anyway. We did have the brisket and it was the best I have ever had. The coleslaw was bland and the potato salad was ok. BBQ was worth the wait.... More

We stopped by here during our Austin day trip, we arrived shortly after opening and we were greeted to a line about 80 people long and a 2 hour wait. After 3 hours we finally got the counter we ordered. They were out of pulled pork and turkey, but had lots of brisket, sausage, and ribs. The ribs and brisket... More

We got into the 8 deep queue at 7am. Was expecting it to be a hard queue but was easy. Had a book and the fact they provide misters etc makes it easy. Had some beers too. The food was fantastic, Aaron Franklin spoke to us in the queue and as we were eating and is a really cool. No... More

We visited Austin and this was by far our favorite restaurant. We can't more highly recommend it. Especially if you are BBQ fans!

Titles of other Reviews, "Surpasses the Hype", "Hands Down the Best BBQ", "Worth The Wait"...I cannot add any more, it's all true. You have to stand on line to get the whole experience, talking ....BBQ with line buddies, sharing food experiences, restaurants, drinking beer at 9:00am, where do you live..yada yada, yada....it's all part of it. I will never forget!

I've lived in Austin for many years, trying BBQ and brisket at many different places. It never clicked until I went to Franklins. We got there at 8:30 AM, which was early enough to be under the roof(important in the Texas heat) and the drinks they passed out to the line helped as well. The brisket I had was unlike... More

There have been many great reviews on Franklins BBQ so this will be short and to the point. This is the best BBQ I have ever had. Don't let the wait scare you away this is the real deal. The brisket is awesome and the ribs just fall off the bone. The staff is friendly and service is great. If... More
