We arrived at 8:30AM and waited until 12:30 to get in. We met some cool people in line. This place lived up to all expectations and is worth the wait. Brisket and Ribs were the best I ever had. My only regret is not buying more to take home.

Franklin is arguably the best all around BBQ in Austin (and maybe the country) if you love Texas-style brisket and ribs. However, John Mueller and La Barbecue (all part of the same brisket family tree) are just as good with not nearly the same line insanity. It pains me to send people to these other establishments as it potentially interferes... More

OK, I had never ever ever ever ever, waited in line this long for food anywhere before.....BUT I had heard that this was the best BBQ anywhere, and I had just flown into town for a class and had nothing else to do, so....the adventure began. I arrived the day before they were closing for a remodel, so this was... More

I first visited Franklin BBQ after living here less than a year in 2011. The wait times were a mere 2hrs (if you can believe it or not) and the only reason I had even ventured to partake in the Russian Food Line fad that Austinites seem to embrace with such fervorand pride was to see if this place actually... You will have to wait in line for this gem, but the wait is well worth it. Best brisket, best ribs anywhere. They also have sausage, turkey, beef ribs and sides (beans, slaw and potato salad. Opens at 11AM (except Monday) and people start lining up at 7AM and they serve until they run out of everything which occurs every... More

Franklin's brisket is excellent. On a scale of one to ten, it scores a ten on appearance, flavor and tenderness. I wouldn't and didn't wait in line for hours. I simply sent Stacy an email a few days ahead of time and ordered a whole brisket to go. You walk in on the agreed upon day between 10 am and... More

We were visiting our son and he said we had to try Franklin's during our visit. We arrived around 9 that morning and had a very long wait. (3 hours). Staff was friendly and service was okay. We ordered brisket and ribs. Food was good, but it was a one time occurrence for us. I don't mind a wait for... More

Oh my my! We ALSO were staying in San Antonio and specifically got up early (and I am NOT a morning person), but we wanted to BE THERE by 8 a.m. to get in line. We made it but I dropped my sister off right around 8:15 so she could get us a spot and I went to find a... More

We drove from San Antonio to Austin and arrived at Franklins BBQ at 9:30am. The line stretched from the front of the restaurant to around the block. Bring your own waters and drinks to keep yourself hydrated, an umbrella for shade, chairs or blankets to sit on while you wait since they don't open until 11:00 am. That said (remember... More

Amazing food. Well worth the waiting time in line way before the store open at 11:am. Staff was very friendly and kind. Their marble brisket melt in my mouth without sauce. The brisket flavor was awesome. No need sauce unless you want to change up your taste bud. They got 3 difference kind of sauces: vinegar, sweet or espresso. My... More
