ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!

I have heard the hype, and I came in with a very cynical mind, but one bite and I was melted. First of all, the line gets all of the buzz but I say embrace it! I got there around 9:30 with my friends, camp chairs, a cooler full of drinks, and a great spirit. It's like a tailgate, except... read more

This is a great place to wait in line with friends and catch some great food. If you are wanting a quick taste, you can show up at 1PM and stand behind the guy with the "Last man standing" sign. You can't always get exactly what you want but you can get a great assortment.

Yes the brisket is outstanding but so is the turkey and everything else. The wait is long but that's just part of it. The staff is friendly.......they go down the line to take your order, in a short while another staff member comes by selling cold beer and before you know it, you enter a small, bbq joint where they... It was an unusual cold drizzly saturday morning. It's not quite the boozy tailgating experience that other reviewers mention. We waited patiently. College kids behind us and couple from Houston who drove up wee hours of the morning, in front. Two of us ordered 2 links, brisket, coleslaw and one flintstone sized beef rib (available every other week). Crusty bit... More

While living at Fort Hood for a couple years, we've never taken the time to go down to Austin and wait in line for a few hours for this infamous bbq.. I wasn't sold, I figured all the "hype" wouldn't turn out to be worth it but boy was I wrong. This past weekend me and my husband decided to... More

Just to clarify: I haven't actually waited in the long lines & eaten there, however, one of the doctors at work had ordered in advance & brought it to work...I took a small piece of brisket & sausage, took it to my desk, & when I took a bite...amazing! The meat was so tender, only a subtle smoke, delicious! By... More

It is definitely and adventure to have lunch at Franklin's. Arrive early....9am! and wait in line until opening. Bring a lawn chair and a cooler and enjoy meeting people from all over. The brisket is amazing and I really enjoyed the sides. Great place to take an out of town visitor but do expect it to be in line for... More

Note: I do not obsess about food, so if you do, then this review is not for you. Sure, the food was very good, but not "5 hours in line" good. If you value the "experience" of waiting in line and the bragging rights to say you were there, then this is the place for you. If you just want... More

...I don't have the time. The BBQ is wonderful, period. But, 1-2 hours in line? No way. Be smart. If you're flexible you can plan your party ahead. Go online and find the next date you can order in advance. Franklin's will give you a range of pick-up dates. Submit your order and wait for confirmation. Then notify your guests... More

I now know why everyone always raves about this place! Outstanding brisket!!! Line wasn't as long as I expected but it was at 3 pm on a Tuesday and still had to wait about 45 mins but very well worth it!!! Amazing experience!!!
