Amazing menu, fine service, cool atmosphere

in a world where so many restaurants seem to all have the same standard (at least in their category) items on the menu, it's really cool to find someplace where it seems like the great majority of the items on the menu are unique to Frank. My wife and I had fantastic hot dogs for lunch. There was also a great choice of beers and wine. The atmosphere is relaxed and very friendly, we felt really chilled after driving to Franks directly from Houston and was a great introduction to Austin bars and restaurants. The space and the room is really great and I would imagine... More

The first time I ate at Franks I got a plain hot dog, and it was delicious. The hot dog itself is cooked perfectly and the bun was light and fluffy. I got a side of waffle fries, and they were delectable also. For my drink I got a Dr. Dopplegänger (basically a Dr.Pepper but made with pure cane sugar).... More

Really enjoyed the food selection and drinks. Large portions and overall well priced for an evening out. Fun atmosphere and good service throughout. The corn cup, mac and cheese, chili cheese waffle fries rock!!!! A nice change from the many BBQ and Tex Mex offerings.

Really enjoyed our stop here as a break from bbq and tex mex. The whole gang loved this place. From the spicy Bloody Mary to chili and Chicago dogs and local artisan sausages. Service was great. Good beer selection too. Very fun atmosphere and good service too

Although the hipster-meter is off the charts and there's no wheel-reinvention here, this place is big, friendly, reasonably priced. I will return, no question. Chili Dog. Notorious P.I.G. Waffle Fries Poutine. Corn cup Coke Tito's and Soda. Two slices of chocolate covered bacon. (not pictured, but consumed happily the next morning) No frills in the presentation, no fuss/muss with the... More

…in fact it may have been the best one I have ever had. Big bun, large dog that did not get overwhelmed by the bread, chili with just the right amount of spice, cheese as the cherry on top…it does not get much better. Good beers on tap, and waffle fries too. I would say they could take a waffle... More

We stopped by Frank's on a cold windy day without any recommendations. The food, beer and service was excellent. Who know one could prepare hot dogs in so many ways. Fun atmosphere.

Fun food and great beer selection. The service was equally great. I tried a dog that was filled with cheese, wrapped in bacon (SOLD!) and topped with coleslaw. It was awesome. My only criticism is that the bun was a little too bready and too big for the dog. I wanted more dog and less bread. I will definitely go... More

Located on the SW edge of Austin, JAK is completely worth the drive. Clearly, both a neighborhood restaurant and a destination, the food, drinks, wait staff and atmosphere were all top notch.
