Melt in Your Mouth Home Cooking

This place is just how I remembered it from childhood. I can't believe I never came here when I was in college around the corner to eat and study. It is just a hop, skip, and a jump from the entertainment area in Arlington. And very close to the UTA campus. For the particulars. The building is... read more

Dirty and food was only fair. Service was ok. We tried again thinking it was an off night. Won't go again.

Step back in time to the 50's & 60's in one of the oldest restaurants in DFW. Decor makes you feel like Kennedy or LBJ is President and Arlington is a small town Service is great and food is really good. Chicken Fried Steak in one of the best in the area and love those hot rolls.

We came on recommendation from previous days waitress at a famous sports bar in town. We knew it was one of those home town places that stand the test of time. We had brisket that melted in our mouths. Of course the homemade dinner rolls were warm and very tasty. The server was generous to bring us a second round.... More

We have been here before and the service and food has been uneven, but not today. Today was great. This place is not fancy and not a foodie joint. It is not fast food, either, and the menu is small. BUT it is Southern cooking at its best. We ordered chicken fried steak with the brown gravy (they have 3... More

I decided to try this place because I was in the Arlington area and wanted to try a local dive and not a chain restaurant. I went on reviews on TripAdvisor and thought this restaurant deserved a try. First off, the parking is horrible. But...that is the worst thing I can say about this quaint place! I was pleasantly greeted... More

My family and I have gone to this place numerous times in the last 15yrs but last nights visit left alot to be desired. As always, the portion of food is good but the fried catfish was undercooked. the normally to die for yeast rolls were cold and hard so we requested another batch. the service was lacking also, they... This is an Arlington landmark, but don't hold too high an expectation because of that. At one time, we really loved this place and out of that devotion we will return occasionally. Our most recent trip left us wanting; while the steak was decent; the service was just flat-out unresponsive--so much so that management gave us 30 % off and... More

This place is owned and operated by family, and service is a priority. The food is reasonably priced, and it is served up hot and freshly cooked. The hand breaded chicken fried steak has a lunch or dinner portion priced accordingly and it had very light breading which had a great flavor. The mashed potatoes were real and with good... More

Been often to this place, it has been there a long time, but it has been a while since last visit. Has some issues with the last couple of visits, but this visit was absolutely a great total dining experience. Friendly welcome, quick and super nice service, ordered the small chicken fried-oh baby-good, and the unique house French dressing on... More
