Just Good Cooking

Hubby & I stopped in on Sat before boarding the Aransas Queen Casino Boat. When we spotted this little place ,we thought it was just a bakery, but it is like an old fashion dIner. The food is always delicious at the Bakery. The restaurant has been in Aransas Pass for decades and has even been written up in Texas Monthly!!

Old time diner. Lots of locals eating here. Food was very good. Portions were generous. Prices average.

We arrived in Port Aransas too early to be at work, so we stopped in at Bakery Cafe for some breakfast. Simple comfort food. Perfectly priced We also returned at other days for lunch and dinner. Such a happy surprise! I had blackened flounder that could've been served at a high end restaurant and no one would have known it... More

If you like it the way it used to be then you might like the plate lunch. The chicken fried steak is almost like it used to be. Mashed potatoes and gravy with canned green beans and a roll. But the price is reasonable and the service is good.

This is my favorite breakfast stop. Everyone knows everyone and the staff is friendly. The food is classic diner food and is average to a little above average but sometimes lacks seasoning. The pie is good.

We rolled in here about 1045am on a Sunday morning. We were in town for a family wedding and a group of us wanted to do a little more catching up before leaving town. Very clean restaurant with clean restrooms. Large room in back with bigger tables to accommodate a crowd. (We had a small group of 5 adults but... More

I love this place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Breakfast with home made buiscuits is worth getting out of bed for. Dinner with the home made rolls is so like eating at Grandma's house. And lunch specials are delicious and come with rolls and dessert! This time we had the lunch special chicken fried steak. Their breading is light and... More

This café has the best service and the best food in town. The staff was exceptional and the food was fantastic. Breakfast was superb and the dinner was even better. Chicken Fried Steak was tender and I would recommend to all. Great dinning, great service!

We stop here to eat breakfast every year when we go to Port A. The waitresses are so sweet.....every time! The servings are huge and the food is good too. I would even recommend crossing the ferry to eat at the Bakery Cafe instead of eating in Poer A. It's that much better. It doesn't look like much on the... More
