Maybe the locals thing the Big Texan is a tourist trap, but I don't care; it's well worth a stop in. Never had a bad meal there. Great food, great staff, great ambiance.

Fun spot with a lot of eye candy. Kids will get a big kick. Not so sure about the food as i had a Chicken Fried steak and was disappointed. You could tell it was not made fresh but pre made at a factory. Even with the disappointed of the food, I would still recommend you stop as it is... More

It was our first visit in this famous location. Great looking place, ambient was just perfect. But as we know this is a restaurant and my rating its pretty much up to the food. Room ambient +++ Great looking place feels pretty authentic just like it! Service +++ Its a very frequented restaurant so we had to wait 30 minutes.... More

I did not even try to eat the 72 ounce steak, I knew I couldnt. There were 2 soldiers trying to do it, the one quit and when I left the other was still trying! I got the regular Rib Eye and it was more than enough. I asked for steak sauce and the waitress looked at me kind of... More

We enjoyed visiting this place. There is lots to see and do, the gift shop is great as well. My children and I spent about an hour just looking around the restaurant. They have a gun shooting game for the kids, lots of places for pictures, they even have a walkthrough maze, and live music. We went on a busy... More

I've driven past it many times by myself but this time I had the family. The decorations are what to expect at this old route 66 attraction. of course all five of us had steaks that were very good. Our waiter was super polite and attentive. The dinner for 5 with a giant piece of cake was $150.00 including the... More

My husband and I came in here for lunch on 7-22-14. We have been here several times and usually have pretty good luck with the steaks. Unfortunately, this time we decided to order the RJ Texas Cut steak for $29.00. They butterflied it to decrease the cooking time and I don't think that was the issue so much as all... More

The big Texan offers this complementrary shuttel to and from almost every hotel in Amarillo. We aranged it via the front desk. A driver picked us up with a Cadillac stretch limo with a long horn... I have heard about and seen this restaurant and had to make a stop while in Amarillo, Texas. Easily accessible west bound on I-40 on the east side of town. Large parking lot and many hotels in the area offer free Limo service to and from. The big "treat" is to see someone attempt the "72-ounce" Steak challenge. Check out... More

We had a 30 min wait for a table. It was packed! Enjoyed taking pics with the 'dummies', looking at the various historical vignettes, and watching a poor Irish bloke try to eat a 72 oz steak! He gave in at the 30 min mark, btw! We were also serenaded by a lovely string trio. I've had better tasting steaks,... More
