When I left home for this business trip, I made special plans to stop here and see the home of the famous 72 Oz Steak. I ordered the fried jalapeno appetizer and "Man vs. Food" steak special which is a steak one fourth the size of the 72 ounce beast they are famed for, and one of their "Jack Rabbit... More

Now, I'm going to open up this review by stating that The Big Texan is a tourist destination. For those of us who love those stops on the road, it's incredible. For those looking for something more sophisticated, you may want to travel on down the road. But let's be honest: you don't travel to Texas for sophistication. You travel... More

I actually live in Amarillo, so we visit The Big Texan often. This is not only a fun place to eat, it also offers my favorite ribs in town. If you are there in the summer, try out the beergarten. They have developed a line of various beers that are really refreshing, dark, light and fruity. If you are around... More

It is a neat place to visit, just to see the many animal heads on the wall, which kids would love, as well as the possibility of watching someone try to eat a 72 oz. steak. The food is ok, I have had better steaks and definitely better tasting mushrooms. Their blue cheese dressing for their salads is great although... More

Honestly, you don't necessarily go for the steak though it was pretty tasty. The minute you walk in the door you know you are in Texas! All the staff are sporting 10 gallon hats and big belt buckles. They are super friendly and extremely efficient. This isn't their first rodeo! The place is huge and they are pushing over 600... More

The Big Texan is a really neat place to truly experience the lifestyles of Texan cowboys! They got delicious steaks, slot machines, the finest selection craft beers, an amazing gift shop and even a rattlesnake! A live rattlesnake! I'm so stopping by there again to enjoy more of their fabulous food and atmosphere!

I was expecting an average steak usually big places like this are all hype and not great food but I was pleasantly surprised with the best ribeye steak I have ever had, headed to Sante fe in February 2015 and will be dining here again.

The atmosphere in this restaurant was amazing. I had a 12 oz steak that was simply perfectly cooked and so very tasty.
