When travelling the route 66 through Amarillo (or just passing through Amarillo) you can't miss the Big Texan Steakhouse (literally - there are signs promoting the place all over Texas!). An official Route 66 roadside attraction the Big Texan Steak Ranch is everything you expect. Over the top sculptures, cutesy (kitchy) old wild west style motel, an arcade and of... More

We stopped here on our way through town. The atmosphere was great, but it was freezing! We both ate with our coats on. The steaks were good but pricey. Be sure to take a sweater or a coat.

I came here for breakfast with my Uncle. We hadn't seen each other in years and the staff was very friendly and allowed us plenty of time to visit. The food was fantastic and the gift shop and arcade were both really fun. I will stop here any time I come through Amarillo in the future!

Loved the Big Texan Steak Ranch, They have a very awesome atmosphere, with live country old school music (perfect!), a great gift shop and a good and well served food. The service is good. It`s a good choice!

Came here with a friend to watch him eat the 72oz (he failed with 10 bites left). Food was good, get the ribeye 20oz, cooked to medium-rare. The restaurant also has it's own brews which were pretty good too. Yes the place looks really cheezy and yes it is, but the meal is good and it's a well known LOCAL... More

I went here with a group tour so didn't have too much to do with the menu. That being said the food was delicious, friendly and helpful staff with quick service. There was something there for everyone and the family entertainment was a nice touch.

We were staying at an RV park in Amarillo for one night, and there was free limo service to the restaurant so we went. I had prime rib ($21) - the taste was OK, but it was the thinnest prime rib I have ever seen. When the waiter brought it, I thought he had brought a steak by mistake. It... More

"I promise, if you don't like the looks of it from the outside, we will go to McDonald's," I said to my granddaughter as I tried to talk her into trying a new place. When we pulled up and she saw the giant cowboy, Godzilla scaling buildings, the cute old-tyme hotel, and the limos with Texas long-horns on the hoods,... More

We went on a weekday so it was pretty quite. Now much going on but the steak was amazing. I had a 24 oz ribeye that was super tender and very well cooked. We were on our way from Oklahoma to New Mexico and we just had to stop when we saw the sign. It's an experience everyone should have.
