Good food, bad atmosphere

The ribeye was good, the Whiskey Barrel Stout was excellent, and the chocolate cake was rich enough to put me in the ground. But.... Now, I grew up in Amarillo but this was my first visit to the Big Texan. Now I know why: it's more of a Texas-themed tourist attraction than a restaurant. Think of... read more

Decided to only browse gift shop and purchased fudge. Fudge was typically quick mix stuff. Fun location to take photos.

I was traveling to and from Colorado with a boy scout troop and made a point to stop both times at The Big Texan. It was the first time I'd been there. The prices were high, but the food, wait help, and ambiance was fantastic. It's made more tourists on route 66 and still worth the visit. It was fun... More

I visited The Big Texan as a teen and then as a young adult and, yesterday, July 28, 2015 as a senior. The service was adequate, but not extremely efficient as was the case in the past. The filet mignon was perfect, but the salad was warm, as if it had been placed under a heat lamp, not nicely chilled... More

We went here two years ago on our way home from a cross country road trip. We loved it so much that this year we had the same road trip but this was a stop that we planned this time. It was so good we planned it for the way home also. We love this place! The atmosphere is great... More

Place looks good from the outside and inside, but the food was poor the steaks were tough and grisly and service was slow. When commented on this, the answer was do you want another steak, not really the moment had gone. Outside the restaurant everything was good.

Came here for a decent steak after seeing my first USA tornado. A great themed restaurant for tourists, such as myself, to experience. The chauffeur service from the hotel was fun. The food was lovely. 72oz steak challenge was one to watch!

Wonderful experience with my young teenagers and husband. Food was great and they brew their own beer. (Which we tried the large sampler). Highly recommend it!

This was my second time to stop into this steak house. I have concluded this is more about the experience rather than the food. The steak was horrible, full of fat and was uneatable. They did not replace the steak but they did remove it from our bill since we could not eat it as we received it. Additionally the... More

A free ride in a big ol' Cadillac limo with longhorns attached to the hood? Sign us up! It was about a 45 min wait when we got there around 8 pm on Sat, but there was plenty to keep us entertained! Pictures to take, gift shop, description of the 72 oz steak challenge, porch swings, etc! There are 2... More
