The Big Texan makes some good food. The atmosphere is fun and lively with a rustic 'old time' décor. Great place to eat and meet new people.

I was so excited about returning to the Big Texan but was disappointed when we pulled into the parking lot. It all got smaller! I remember a big parking lot that would pick up your kids on horseback and take them to the door. You don't need to now; it is an easy walk! Once we stepped inside it looked... More

Our road trip across country brought us into Amarillo. My son being a " Man VS Food " fan ( a show on Food Network ) insisted we had to stop at the Big Texan for dinner. We pulled up to the building and it was as obnoxious and touristy as was anticipated, but I can play along. The inside... More

There are better steak places in Amarillo, such as Embers. However, you must try it at least once so you can say you've been there. The Strawberry Shortcake dessert was the best part of the meal. The singers can be annoying if right at your table. Stay and watch someone attempt to eat the 72 oz. steak. If you're going... More

It's a tourist trap. Less than average food, average service, greater than average price. There are many much better restaurants than this. Go and take a look around, sure, but go somewhere else to eat!

I grew up in Amarillo, lived here all my life. Big Texan is a place you always hear about. In all fairness, I probably haven't been in 5 years because there are much better places to eat. In my opinion, if you haven't seen the place, it's worth stopping by. If you are looking for Texas sovenirs, they have the... More

Now that I have your attention, the Big Texan Steak Ranch is one of the best steak houses in the vast Texas Panhandle; it also houses a microbrewery brewing up the finest brews available. The Big Texan is located on I-40, easy on easy off; they also have limousine service to and from your Amarillo hotel. Once inside you feel... More

Great touristy place. The food and service seems to be going down hill, over the years we would stop and eat here if we had time but it seems like the last 2 or 3 times just hasn't been very good.

She asked where we were heading and recommended that we visit the Big Texan...had she not have recommended it we would never have visited...but WOW we were so glad we did. This is truly a tourist delight ! We stayed in Amarillo one night, and got to eat here. It's So fun, and yes so delicious. I can't imagine that people can eat the 72 oz ( ROAST) !!! We had a wonderful 6 oz fillet, with some sides, and i had a yummy Margarita with my dinner. The whole atmosphere... More
