Great Burgers

Enjoy stepping back in time to an old fashioned burger joint from the 1940's located on old Route 66. When you walk through the door, you step back in time for great old fashioned hamburgers and fresh cut fries. Despite the outward appearance, this is a place to experience. Operating since 1946 there may have been some changes but it certainly diesnt have a modern feeling. The chilli was good - nice flavour but no beans. The burger pattie. Was thick, succulent and tasty - one of the best we've had on Route 66 to date

Every time we are in Amarillo we make a drive down 6th street to the golden lite cafe for a juicy, greasy cheese burger and fries. We've been doing this for 15 years and will continue. The fries are fresh cut and perfect to the crunch. Love the back patio and live music next door. Please don't change the way... More

A hidden gem that you might not know about unless you are with a local! If you want a delicious burger and fries - this is the place to go! A little greasy, but goes great with an ice cold beer :) The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed, but the kitchen is slow, especially at lunch... More

This is a local favorite for anyone who wants a GOOD burger. Although I am a vegetarian, my husband is not and he LOVES their buffalo burger with green chilis. I get a grilled cheese with onions and mushrooms, and it does just the trick when I want a greasy dinner and a beer. They usually have one decent beer... More

Didn't have a meal but had a great time at a music event. Great people, super friendly and the food I saw looked delicious. A definite plus on Rt 66.

I've been wanting to eat at the Golden Light Cafe for a very long time and I must say that it did not disappoint. The cafe is quite small but it has a great vibe, booths, tables and a counter handle the seating duties. The food was great, I had a cheeseburger, it was every bit as good as I... More

This place was pretty awesome. The burgers were great and the atmosphere was what you'd expect from a place that's been frying up deliciousness for over half a century. You can SMELL the history! Tough to seat a party of more than 4 (we were 5) and the service was meh-- I expect a little more from a waitress than... More

We only did the cafe for a bite to eat. It is a greasy spoon, with character, it was late afternoon and half a dozen locals were in. We were made to feel welcome by the staff and the locals. We just had iced tea and a toastie each. We also ordered a small portion of chips between us. The... More
