What, decent vegetarian Mexcian food in Amarillo! What a pleasant surprise to find this authentic interior Mexican restaurant along I40. HIM: Of course I had cheese enchiladas, the standard by which I think a Mexican restaurant should always be judged. To my pleasant suprise they were made with corn tortillas, stuffed with queso fresco and covered with a red pasilla... More

We were out running errands and wanted a Mexican Lunch and had heard about this restaurant from our Niece. So we stopped and had a very good light lunch. I had the Beef Tacos and my spouse had the Fish Tacos. Both were very good. We ate A la Carte so did not have the extra beans/rice. We did have... More

This isn't Tex-Mex people...its real Mexican Food...and its really good! This is one of the best places in Amarillo! I absolutely love everything on the menu, the staff, the drinks, the Anything...but mostly really...the unique-ness of the food in the place. There's lots of Tex-Mex in Amarillo, Tx...but this place is different. Try it...you will love it and you will... More

The atmosphere is really neat. Its got a neat bar, and its themed like a small mexican adobe building. The staff was friendly. We weren't super impressed with the food. Not that it wasn't good, it just wasn't anything to rave about. My husband was weirded out by the lack of cheese on my tacos and his burritos. We wished... More

Stopped here for a quick dinner on our way through town and was very impressed with the quality of the food. I ordered the taco plate with shredded beef. Tender. Flavorful. I'm always impressed when my Mexican food looks like identifiable food. Wait staff was extremely friendly despite our arrival near closing time.

I love eating here, it never leaves me disapointed, they hv two locations one off of paramount and i-40(this location has a more appropriate setting for a nice date night and a bar), and the other off i-40 east (this setting is more casual and no bar) and Grand Both are Great. If your looking for some good mexican food... More

Loved the food, the service so accommodating and agreeable. The food was unique, tasty, and deep Mexico authentic. Location a little hard to manage... but be keen-minded. Atmosphere is cute and "earthy", but could be a little tidier and clean. An adventure! ! !

Stopped here on the suggestion of the Hotel clerk. Parking was a little tight but other than that excellent service, very quick in getting our food and an excellent Margarita.

We are at El Tejavan for the first time in August 2013, dining with a friend who recommended it. Although it may have been a little loud for some people, the food more than made up for it. It was tasty, with just the right amount of "heat". Our waitress was very friendly and personable and made sure we had... More

This is an excellent choice for an upgrade above the standard Tex-Mex food out there. We always stop overnight in Amarillo enroute to summer vacation time in northern New Mexico and last week dined at El Tejavan. It's a very appealing space, looks way nicer on inside than out, and is very conveniently located right on the I-40 access road.... More
