Abuelo's is popular in Amarillo, and the building and atmosphere may be the reason. We ate there again this week. The food is okay but nothing special. I had fajitas, which tasted good but the beef was tough - and not enough onions and peppers. Chips were okay, but they gave bowls of salsa (one red, one green, and one... More

This place was recommended to us by an RVing couple. They where spot on. We arrived and saw a good sized crowd waiting for seating. We shared fajitas for two. This gave us four meats (Beef, Pork, Chicken, Shrimp. and for sides. We had more than enough food for two. We generally evaluate TexMex by the quality of their Chips... More

I have been here many times with friends. This is a large restaurant with a bar. The drinks are decent and atmosphere fine. The food is average. Being a vegetarian, they do have options, but it's all extremely conventional and the guacamole enchiladas are not so good. I recommend going to Tacos Garcia instead. Even if it's further away from... More

My husband likes to eat at Abuelo's regardless of where we travel. This restaurant doesn't quite live up to the food quality of their Wichita location; however, still good food. Something new to the menu? Tapas! Their stuffed mushrooms: yummy!!!! Bacon wrapped shrimp: 3 were just enough. You will be tempted to fill up on the chips and salsa. They... More

3 of us stopped in Amarillo and ate at Abuelo's it was amazing. We started out with the Agave Margarita, it was tops, mixed perfectly. I ordered the Alambre De Camaron, the shrimp were cooked to perfection and the bacon was not limp nor too crispy. My wife ordered the Sautéed Chicken Zucchini and loved it. The choices of salsa... Four of us went there for dinner. The food was edible bot something I would seek out again. I love fish tacos but these were really unmemorable.

(8 pm Sat night) Dirty & messy dining room floor, dirty and messy bathrooms even though several staff were standing around chatting with the manager. Part of meal not brought out & served room temperature. Disappointing, never going there again.

Keep in mind this is a chain but this was the original location. So, the magic which created a several city operation can be felt here. The manager, Ken Crowe, is a hands on guy who can be found on the floor, mixing with guests, all times of day and night. It's an impressive room within a very basic strip... More

Great place to eat. Really consistent dining experience every time. I love their prime rib on Thursday nights, but go early they sell out quick.
