Nice family restaurant

Abuelo's is typically consistent with the food and service. A few months ago they seemed to be cutting back on some things like less cheese on the nacho's. That trend seems to have changed. The food is very good and portions very nice. I like the idea of having several options for sides, but... read more

Any time we're in Amarillo, this is the first place my wife says that's where she wants to eat. Great service, great food, never had a bad experience there. Even though it's part of a chain, it's like a one of a kind place.

We were returning from Cadillac Ranch and we were excited to go to Abuelos's because we thought it was another restaurant we used to go to in AZ. We loved the statue out front and the inside decor with colourful murals and the fountain we were seated next to. We finally figured out we were thinking of another restaurant while... More

Great authentic Mexican food! The best green chile and chicken enchiladas I have had. The service was great and the food came out fast. We will deff. return!

We were there during Sunday lunch rush. we were impressed by friendly & efficient staff. We chose to sit in bar with TV and had great service. Chips are served hot with 3 salsas.

I regularly eat here as well as the abuelos in Lubbock. I think this location is more consistent. Both are good but I have seen "off days" in Lubbock.

We really like this restaurant and make a point to eat here when we spend the night in Amarillo on the way to visit family. The beer is always cold, the food is excellent, the staff is great. We haven't found anything we don't like. Highly recommended....go early on weekends or expect to wait.

Our HOG dinner ride was in the banquet room here in October. The staff laid out a great buffet that was as delicious as if we ordered as individuals. We had chicken enchiladas, beef enchiladas, cheese enchiladas, and beef and chicken fajitas. Everything was great and the service was terrific. The banquet room is huge and can accommodate a crowd... Always look forward to eating at Abuelo's, when visiting relatives in Amarillo. Tried the one in Austin, on the way to Houston. Always superb food. Hot plates make food stay hot, 'til the last bite. YUMMMMM!

First time dining at Abuelo's in Amarillo but we have eaten at other Abuelo's in Texas. The staff was great and the food was great. I like their gluten-free options (tamales or tacos). Get there early to avoid the crowds. Save room for flan - truly the best!
