This little charming restaurant, in a former home cottage, proved to be a winner. We came through Alpine last year and this year, at this same time, weather terrible, and the staff and chef pulled off dinner service well and professionally. We enjoyed the Chicken Fried Steak, Jalepeno Bacon Macaroni (yes, as an entree n it's own skillet), wedge salad... More

Food was well above average and the service was very good. I would consider it to be a very consistent restaurant that you can count on for a nice dinner

Excellent food and very professional service at lunch both days. Not cheap but food is hot and tasty and comes out quickly. Amazing variety on menu. A warm and cozy oasis in the freezing fog of Alpine in winter.

If you will be anywhere near the Big Bend Area you will want to visit this restaurant. We made reservations as we were staying at the Holland Hotel. As we walked in I really was not sure what to expect because it seems to be in an old home. Walking in you are taken through the living room and back... More

We have been traveling to Alpine for many years and have eaten at the Reata many times as one of our big treats after a day of hiking in Big Bend. This visit was a little disappointing. Our bottle of wine was sent back...tasted a bit vinegar. The hostess offered to replace with a more expensive selection, which we accepted.... More

This restaurant was recommended to us as the "best in Alpine", but it was a big disappointment to me and my wife. It is difficult to find and the visit went downhill from there. Our waitress was really snotty and rude, but a male waiter trainee was much more polite. The "best steaks" were tough and chewy - and were... More

Soooo, I am a vegetarian, who also appreciates a good a Margarita…I am happy to say, the Reata met all my needs! I was a bit concerned that I would find anything to eat in Alpine, Texas, and the last place I wanted to visit was a place famous for its steak! But the Reata is beautiful and the food... More

Alpine is a bit off the beaten path, and we were delightfully surprised to find such great food in such a small town. Worth a detour. My daughter and I split a 14 ounce rib steak that was mouthwatering and accompanied by some of the best mashed potatoes we have ever had. Order it rare for best results.
