We have eaten several times at Reata's in Fort Worth and thoroughly enjoyed it. This original Reata is more down-home in atmosphere, very reminiscent of a Texas ranch kitchen. The food was excellent. I had chicken fried chicken, and my husband had pork shank. Both were excellent, the best we have had of those two entrees. The servings were huge--we... More

Both the service and the food were outstanding. We ate here on two different nights. Between the seven of us, we ended up eating a wide variety of their dishes. Everything was very good and tastefully presented. I highly recommend that you get reservations and, with all the food sounding (and being) so good, if you can't decide what to... More

We ate in the patio out back which would be a pleasant setting, however there were hundreds of flies with significantly altered the atmosphere. They could at least put fans out. The food was plentiful and well prepared but about $5-$10 more per item than you'd pay at most restaurants. If you are staying in Alpine it's worth it to... More

We've been to the sister restaurant in Fort Worth, so this was a no-brainer when staying in Alpine. Made our reservation on-line through Open Table, no problem, arrived on time and were immediately seated. The four of us ordered a cocktail, nothing special, the margarita I ordered was "watery," a bit of a turn off for me. I ordered the... More

Very basic west Texas menu but very well done, nice setting and good, efficient service. Well worth going out of your way to try.

Have visited Alpine for the Viva Big Bend Music Festival the last three years. And during that time have dined at the Reata at least a dozen times for lunch and dinner. Tenderloin tamales, great quail, nicely done pasta dishes and an incredible burger. Drinks are great, there is always something new an interesting on menu and the staff is... More

This place is loved by many far and wide, first established by Grady Spears of "A Cowboy in the Kitchen" fame. Dishes are tried and true with a good assortment of beef, chicken, and fish to choose from. Even vegetable plates are popular. I'm a regular customer.

We had high expectations because we had heard a lot about this place. But, our experience was quite a bit different. Their signature drink, margarita, was watered down, served in an ice tea glass. We tried both white & red wine choices - both barely drinkable. The food, which was plentiful, was piled high on the plate, which made it... More

We made a road trip to Texas and spent 2 nights in Alpine. If you ask the locals, everybody would tell you to go to Reata! Jess, our waitress, was adorable and took such good care of us! The food was good, the atmosphere really South Texas authentic, and it is a good value. We had a great night there!

I heartily concur with another contributor's phrase "culinary oasis" to describe this place. My husband, mother, sister & I had meals here on August 26th, 2014. We were lucky to get in without reservations. My sister had the tamales (appetizer) as the entrée. She said they were very nice, but a lot of food! We should have just shared her... More
