Did not expect to find such tasty food in such a small town; in the middle of what I always thought was nowhere. Not so. Alpine, for it's size has many interests to keep you busy, and as for culinary interests, you can't beat Reata Restaurant. It is Non-standard Southwestern food. Some of it unusual; like bread pudding in a... More

We ate here hoping to find something we could keep down in this desert town. We were very happy with the place, the service and the food was 5 star class. We liked it enough to buy their cookbook.

Nicest restaurant in Alpine. The steaks are great. On the expensive side, but highly recommend for a special night out.

Whenever I am in Alpine I try to make time to dine at the Reata. There are not a lot of choices when seeking a good meal in Alpine, but the Reata was certainly one of the best restaurants in Alpine. I am very disappointed to report that my experience at the Reata in October was not what I have... More

Having eaten at the one in Fort Worth we knew to expect & did get delicious food but had to eat on patio & flys were the worst. All over us so very hurriedly eaten great food. Not a fine dining experience. Tip - regardless of the day, time & laid back feeling of the area, do make a reservation... More

We have eaten several times at Reata's in Fort Worth and thoroughly enjoyed it. This original Reata is more down-home in atmosphere, very reminiscent of a Texas ranch kitchen. The food was excellent. I had chicken fried chicken, and my husband had pork shank. Both were excellent, the best we have had of those two entrees. The servings were huge--we... More

Both the service and the food were outstanding. We ate here on two different nights. Between the seven of us, we ended up eating a wide variety of their dishes. Everything was very good and tastefully presented. I highly recommend that you get reservations and, with all the food sounding (and being) so good, if you can't decide what to... More

We ate in the patio out back which would be a pleasant setting, however there were hundreds of flies with significantly altered the atmosphere. They could at least put fans out. The food was plentiful and well prepared but about $5-$10 more per item than you'd pay at most restaurants. If you are staying in Alpine it's worth it to... More

We've been to the sister restaurant in Fort Worth, so this was a no-brainer when staying in Alpine. Made our reservation on-line through Open Table, no problem, arrived on time and were immediately seated. The four of us ordered a cocktail, nothing special, the margarita I ordered was "watery," a bit of a turn off for me. I ordered the... More

Very basic west Texas menu but very well done, nice setting and good, efficient service. Well worth going out of your way to try.
