$12 Margarita...not so much

I got the Avocado Caesar Salad with Grilled Tenderloin and Cayenne Croutons, which was very good. It had all of my favorite things - steak, avocado, Caesar dressing. The steak was cooked medium rare (just as I asked) and was seasoned very well. The problem with a lot of restaurants is... read more

Our meal got off to a good start with tasty and unusual flavored muffins and biscuits, with delicately flavored garlic butter. We had a large Vegetable Plates of fresh mushrooms, green beans, and asparagus over cheese grits. For dessert, chocolate bread puddings with dulce de leche ice cream, very satisfying. Service was swift and pleasant, even though the restaurant was... More

The place was busy so we ate at the bar. Bar tender very attentive and the citrus crusted chicken was fantastic!!! Tortilla soup was pretty good also.

The service was perfectly lovely and ambiance is charming. The meal started off on a high note, with the complimentary, delicious corn muffins and pecan scones. Unfortunately, there were not many other high points. The drinks were some of the worst items - the house cherry limeade was sickeningly sweet, with no traces of vodka as promised, and the margarita... More

Wow. What a difference from last year. And the year before that, and the year before that, and . . . you get the drift. I'm not sure what happened here, but we came for our usual fabulous Christmas Eve-ish dinner here at the Reata in Alpine, Texas and - ouch. Dead stop. Nothing is the same. But that creme... More

We are at the Reata during the Alpine Art Festival this year. It is definitely THE place to see and be seen. We had soup because it was a cold day. Delicious. The atmosphere was cordial and the service was excellent.

It's that "extra" in the food and service that makes this restaurant exceptional. Cilantro soup worth the drive alone. Great atmosphere, great service.

Ate dinner here recently and were not impressed with the food. The atmosphere is western, in an old house, several quiet rooms with a fireplace. Service was good, but the food was just okay, and very overpriced. The chicken fried steak was chewy and hard to cut. The vegetable plate was a generous serving but too expensive for just vegetables.... More

We really enjoy eating at this place, either in the front or in the back by the bar. Will have to try the outdoor area next time.
