The Reata is located in downtown Alpine and features an upscale menu in a restored home. The food was absolutely great--better t than the more highly touted Cochineal in Marfa, in fact. This is THE place to eat in Alpine.

In the middle of nowhere is a culinary oasis. There chicken fried chicken and steak is standard setting. In 50 yrs of dining out I cannot honestly say I have ever received better value/quality than their steak salad. But check this, in the middle of nowhere, calamari. We thought we'd take a chance on our second night there and we... More

What a great menu! Lots of interesting Southwestern offerings as well as a few unexpected items with sophisticated ingredients. We enjoyed the dining room with it's 'cowboy' atmosphere. Highly recommend this place when visiting little Alpine, TX.

Thanks to Micah, we had such a nice experience at the Reata in Alpine! Who knew that it was established prior to the one in Fort Worth?? A very nice setting and a SUPER wait person. Sadly, the food was "sub prime". We have dined at the FTW location several times, so we were expecting more.

Alpine, Tx is not on the beaten path but if you are in west Texas, make sure you stop at Reata. We had their special of the day--fried pork chops--and they were great. The potatoes, fresh squash and home made rolls served with the meal were also great. The service was fast and very friendly. I can't wait to go... More

We went there full of excitement due to the reviews. When we were served my sister had black hard mashed potato. We called the waitress over and she kinda went eek! She returned it to the kitchen and came back to say the chef said she had "bad" potato and put brocolli on her plate. Then she asked for a... More

What can I say, the food is simple the best and the Ladies there are super friendly and very helpful. If your in the Alpine area don't miss this little jewel. I've been enjoying the food and hospitality for almost 20 years and I have never been disappointed with either one.

I was very disappointed in this location since several had recommended it to me. The food had no spices and the vegetables tasted as if they had been frozen instead of fresh. The only item I enjoyed were the grits.
