Good but a bit pricey

Overall good. The service was just average. We asked for bread but it didn't come out until after the entrées. The corn bread was a hard as concrete. The chicken fried steak was good. The Carne Asada was also well prepared. Entrées came out rather quickly. We didn't try any appetizers or... read more

I had lunch with my friends today and was so impressed with our hostess, Erin. What an asset this restaurant has with her! Very informative about the menu, friendly, and efficient . And the food, Excellent! I had the chili relleno. Fresh, delicious, and plenty of it! I think I saw Rob back in the kitchen so to Rob and... More

Reata's was recommended by the hotel front desk as the nicest place to eat in Alpine. We arrived just before 5pm and they open at 5pm. Some locals were waiting outside and they were super friendly. Gave us some advise about Big Bend Ranch State Park. They opened and seating us was very quickly. I had the tortilla soup and... More

Lunch at Reata was disappointing. We arrived near the end of lunch service. Although many tables were vacant we had a wait. We were seated in the bar, not our preference. The tenderloin tacos were just OK - cold, not much flavor. My wife ordered chicken tacs; again, unimpressive. Drinks tasted diluted. We left with the impression that we imposed... More

Was expecting good Mexican food so close to the border but the rellenos had not been blanched or roasted properly and skinned. The skin was tough and after chewing on my first bite, I had to spit it out. Same with the stuffed jalapenos although I did eat those because I was so hungry.

For all the hype, we were very disappointed with the food and price. They claim to have a chef, but we were served green beans out of a can. We have traveled much of the country and have are in the process of moving to Alpine and Reata will not be on our eating list even though eating establishments are... More

Everything that my sister and I ate at Reata during our short visit to Alpine was delicious - but I have to want you: there's SO MUCH of all the scrumptiousness. We had the nachos to start, along with caesar salads (about the size of a dinner salad in some places, definitely generous). For our entrees, I had the salmon... More

On August 8, 2015 we had a wonderful lunch with our daughter and son-in-law at this quaint restaurant. The variety of selections was broad and the food was delicious.

We went to this restaurant after reading the reviews on trip advisor. We arrived not long after it had opened and the restaurant was already nearly full. I got the impression this is a favourite with the locals. We sat in the bar to eat which was ok but we felt like they just wanted you in and out as... More

Ordered simple. Chicken fried steak. This comes with mashed potatoes and green beans. The green beans were fresh and good. The potatoes had jalapeño in them and my wife could not eat them. The chicken fried steak had no flavor what so ever. Bottom line, if you can't prepare simple chicken fried steak..... I sure will not order anything else.... More
