Good food and atmosphere

I am not from Texas but appreciate a good steak anywhere. I had the Abilenian and it was very good but probably not worth the price, at least compared to other steaks I have had.

We met another couple and went out for drinks and dinner to this restaurant. The food was very tasty and we had great service. Enjoyed the western attire of the servers and how friendly they were. Will plan to go back again in the future.

We were staying overnight in Abilene and wanted steak - this restaurant was listed as pricey, but good. Menu looked good and the building was cute (like a Texas Roadhouse) and I expected an exceptional steak for the location and price. We both chose the second largest Rib Eye named after the owner. It was allegedly seasoned according to the... More

Wile in Abilene, I decided to try Lytle Land and Cattle Co, I knew it was run by Joe Allen's ex-wife. I loved the steak at Joe Allens, so what could I lose. Yep, it is the same great steak, but with a little more atmosphere. The grilled Portobello mushroom was out of this world. So, now I have a... More

The prices are high compared to similar meals in Abilene. The price of tea was the highest we've seen---$2.99. The fresh small loaf of bread and soft butter were very good. My husband had the small chicken fried steak. It was enough for any one (or should be) and was real steak and very good. I got the fried catfish.... More

I took my elderly mother to Lytle Land and Cattle Company Friday evening for dinner. Our waitress, Hannah, was very receptive to my mother's needs as a geriatric and seated us near the bathroom area and an exit because she could see that my mother has impaired mobility. The meals were delicious, MiMi had fried catfish and I had the... More

yesterday, on Father's day, we found ourselves driving through town for my first time ever. What a dump. It looks like for sure, Abilene's hey-day was at least 50 years ago. The buildings are old and unattractive. They have the appearance of a ghost town. It is in this town that we found the lytle steakhouse. It was breezy, but... More

I went to Lytle Land & Cattle based on its ranking of Abilene restaurants on TripAdvisor. I always like to visit independent restaurants whenever possible. Service was great - I was seated immediately, and my waitress was friendly and attentive. She asked if I would like fresh hot bread while I decided what I wanted for dinner. I'm a sucker... More

I visited for lunch and was looking for a sandwich. I ordered the BLT and asked for whole wheat. I have never had a BLT on a large wheat roll but there is always a first. Lots of bacon, tomatos and lettuce but the giant roll detracted from the rest. Chips with salsa were the side. Salsa was pureed with... More

Lytle L&C is one of our go-to places. Friendly wait staff is a hallmark, and the food is consistently good, albeit a bit on the pricey side. We've never had a bad experience at Lytle and have been many times. They handle large groups very well which is a boon for our large extended family!
